So the taxpayers of one community have to support the taxpayers of another?
Very little reason for the dept to fix there problem other than pride (if they still have any)

A few years back I was working on the EMS mutual aid plan with 60 Control leadership and the policy as I understood it was they can not call for another dept. for no response unless the original agency authorized it (in writing) before the fact. The reason was based on general municipal law andliability on mutual aid.
If Dept. A requests mutual aid and the dept responding crashes or has building fall on them, etc. the liability is clearly in GML that the requesting dept is responsable for the rig/equipment but the giving dept is responsable for the injury/disability/death.
If 60 control dispatches Dept. X to Dept. A's incident (with no pre-authorization or active request) and dept X crashes, who is responsible Dept A that never made the request or 60control that did.
I do not know if this is still the policy, but it does make sense in light of that legal concerns.

A friend of mine passed away a few months ago and his family gave me his collection of photos. There are boxes filled with photos, negatives, slides and manufacturer delivery photos. Going through it and scanning the good stuff I see there is some Westchester stuff. I'm going to put the good quality stuff up in this thread. He did a lot of photo buying/ trading so if there is a photographers name on the slide I will post it along with the image. First up is a 1964 ALF tiller from Hasting on Hudson.....Ron Bogardus photo.

I'm not sure actually. All I know is New York. I really know nothing about the separate states of Upstate New York and Long Island, lol. I Googled it so I probably screwed it up and you are right.

We have 58 Fire depts. in Westchester and many have trouble getting enough trained firefighters on scene. Many have more equipment then they can ever manage to get out the door and this situation puts the public & firefighters in danger.
I suspect nothing will change until a multi fatality fire AND a lawsuit against the fire dist /municipality and/or the chief(s).
Its really sad that depts are not willing to solve this problem.

What a joke. How many different departments needed to be sent on a single family dwelling fire? This is not a knock on any of the individuals who responded (I'm sure they did the best they could) but an example of how screwed up the fire service is in Westchester County.

It took nine or so departments (including the Grasslands Fire Brigade) to get 6-8 engines and 3-4 ladders to the job? The system ain't workin' boys!!!
Finally, after almost 1/2 an hour they stopped trying to special call a special "FAST Team" and just assigned one of the mutual aid companies to that function. Wow.
I'm not criticizing anyone but the system!

Staten Island is really growing and changing. No longer the sleepy borough it was once upon a time.
I have heard FDNY guys talking about it no longer being the quiet assignment it was once considered to be. Some days they get quite busy.

    Members,
I know I've changed titles around a lot in the past, but we are going forward in a new direction with this forum.
I've changed the "Director Of Operations" to the "Chief Of Operations" because that title is much more understandable to emergency services personnel.
With that said, Rob Casasanta (RWC130) has been appointed as EMTBravo's Chief Of Operations. Rob has been a member of this forum since it's inception (10 years), and is the second person registered after me. He is proud to be a member, has helped to get this site to where it is today, and has always given me sound advice and guidance. He is very diplomatic, which is something we need. He has some great ideas to expand the site, like heading up the EMTBravo Muster, and has continued to show great initiative and planning for a successful future. He wants the best for this site and it's members.
Rob has always been someone I trusted greatly, and is a true friend and has no "agenda". He is tolerant, understanding, caring, and honest. It has come time to appoint someone to be my equal should something happen to me health wise and to assure the future of the site. In the next few weeks, we will be forming a written partnership agreement regarding this. I will also be training him and providing him with what he needs to run the site (so, for example, we don't have downtime like we had in March).
I'd like to say thank you to Rob for always being there, through thick and thin. You're a great friend, and will make a great Chief Of Operations. Thank you for taking the load off my shoulders when I need you.
Now, to me. I will stay involved with the technical, financial, and development ends of the websites, so I will still be around as Deputy Chief Of Operations.
    Congrats!
    Seth Granville
Founder & Deputy Chief Of Operations
