  1. I think it was a package deal. Believe me, the only people that got a better deal than this were the Dutch when they bought Manhattan. Enough said!!
  2. Hold the valve down near... not right on top of... A rigs exhaust. That will thaw it for you. Just like a rig pumping a fire will melt asphault, it will thaw out your gear. DON'T LEAVE THE GEAR UNATTENDED!!
  3. No. That rig isn't part of the Fire Brigade.
  4. UPS destroys the body of the truck once it has outlived it's service life. Like the pre post stated. The bodies of the trucks will have several hundred thousand miles on them. The engines and transmissions are changed out as needed. The Atlanta bomb truck story was news to me. I had done a marketing report years back in college, and they made it souid like they didn't want that style stuck associated with anything but UPS. So that's why they canned them when they were done.
  5. I don't think they are good for even that far. It's UHF. It won't go very far because they are high power. They have good pwer to get through concrete and steal, but not good for distance. It sounds like a good portion of the job is on 46.26...
  6. I think Article 35 is from the Criminal Proceedure Law. Not the PL
  7. The ARMY was good enough when they were putting money in his pocket and all he had to do is take long walks in the woods and camping out all night. But the minute he is going to be used for what we have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to train him for he finds "moral issues". He needs to get thrown through the wood chipper along with the rags in "sand land." Enough said.
  8. You would think common sense would dictate that one would stay back. There is no reason to pull all 3 Chiefs out. Even if you have a Deputy available. It's just poor management. It's the same thing as sending an engine fully staffed, and then have 5 more people show up at the alarm in their cars. Who's watching the store at that point? no one. I would have no problem sending additional manpower if required. Just as long as I have enough staffing back in my own quarters to handle jobs in my own district.
  9. While I dont' think there should really be a set minimum standard. I think it should be stressed that if your requesting a mutual aid piece of apparatus. It is with the understanding that it will be staffed with INTERIOR FF's. A good portion of the time your requesting the additional because you have enough "support" personnel on the scene.
  10. Now here's another question in regard to this: How many of these departments that have "class requirements" for officers actually "enforce" them? It's one thing to have it written down. But it's another thing to see them enforced. Has anyone else seen this "done"?
  11. Unless you live in Mt. Vernon. Your not getting the job.
  12. Hidden lesson: I bet she looks both ways before rolling through a crosswalk again.
  13. I hope things work out for the COP. Do you know how much paperwork that is!!!!?
  14. 'Buckey' should be taking the ''DIRT NAP'' right now..
  15. Good luck to them if they can get back alive to spend it. We thought the Bosnia assignment was tough... This is like 100X worse. And Iraq.... Lets not even start with that nightmare.
  16. Pluto IS... still a Dog however.. Thank God.. SOME things never change. !!!!!!
  17. Can't attend, but is there a place we can send a few bucks to support the cause?
  18. Seriously. Weather it's used every day, or once in a twenty year career. It's better to have it and not need it than need it and be Shi* out of luck... Enough said.. BE SAFE...
  19. SBVFD, you can be 16 and take the full FF1. Your status or title must be Firefighter. Explorers are not premitted, and there is no such title as Junior Corp. as far as status description as far as the state is conserned, so they would be firefighters with a department restriction of no interior operations. Several Westchester departments have 16 year old members.
  20. Neither agency has part- time staff.
  21. I want to say it's Hillcrest, but I know they named another department. New City ? perhaps. They are going over to take the place of fire service personnel that have been activated by their military units. This left a shortage in FF's for the settlements and other communities. I thought the dress uniforms were a nice touch. nothign like being on a plan for 10 hrs + in your dress clothes.
  22. Plain and simple. Stop using the radios like a telephone. Keep the messages short.
  23. Our communications system SHINES again!!!!
