Speedy recovery Chief! Keep the faith!

At fire headquarters we always monitored the PD, to give us a heads-up on anything going down. On a summer day, we're all eating lunch, when we hear a PD car on the city pier with an open mic.

First guys says; " Isn't that ( female full name}

Second guys says " She sure has great {upper anatomy}

First guy says " Is she still .... {male full name }

At that point every PD car & dispatch in the northern part of the county began keying their mics!

Buffalo fire to Ladder 6...respond to [address] to assist the ambulance in carrying a fat lady down the stairs.

Hamburg [Erie Co.] Fire Control to responding units, a woman reports smoke coming from her organ.

In the early 70's back in my original dept., the chief appointed a good friend of mine who was under the "minimum height requirement of 5'8" in bare feet". When a member of the [comic] common council questioned the appointment, the chief responded that in all of his years of service, he has yet to see a guy fight a fire in his bare feet. The appointment stood and made good reading in the local gossip sheet.

A few years ago, in upstate NY, a civilian found a piece of military ordinance lying along a highway. He placed it in the car trunk and drove to a nearby SP barracks. The duty trooper, looked in the trunk, evacuated the SP station, and called the nearby base for their EOD team.
