I first thought that F500 was a Ford pick up, then I recalled that it is a recently developed extinguishing agent. I do not know if it's use has become popular, from what I saw it seemed to have promise.

What would have happened if a photo of firemen as they were called then, a generation or so ago, was published of guys visibly beat sitting on the back step after a "good feed" smoking either a Lucky or Camel, if neither were available an dry, the filter would be ripped off and the cigarette smoked backwards.
Often the guy running the "job" would have the stub of a White Owl, Ben Franklin or DiNobli stuck in the corner of his mouth giving unintelligible orders.
Of course most of these guys are dead today.

The correct spelling of this crude is Bakken. my error---But many states are involved when it is shipped from areas such as the Dakotas and experienced has shown us the danger of the product. In Canada, a train cashed in a Quebec town and vaporized a portion of the population.

Should charge a fee per tank car in order to better prepare Fire Departments along the Balkan routes, the fee would not have to excessive per car,as so many of these tank cars are on the move each day, the revenue could be considerable and all sorts of equipment, supplies and training could be given to local Departments and regional response efforts.
Seems the expense is borne by the locals and might not be happening in all states, perhaps a Federal fee distributed to the States then to the locals.
Could be big bucks without hurting the industry. fair is fair they are introducing this significant hazard to vast populated regions, they should be expected to help in the solution.

This the second great article I have read this week authored by Ed Rush, the other being in IAFC newsletter about recruitment , you can always tell the writings of a Stepinac man.

There are many large non fire proof multiple dwellings in our area, built between the world wars, without exterior fire escapes, the trick is getting from your flat to the protected stairway under fire conditions which can get pretty snotty,
Reading the article, is this for safety or beauty.??? On the plus side many fire escapes are being held on to the structure with bolts over a hundred years old and poor up keep of rail, treads and drop ladders make for dangerous situations,
On the other hand they have been our friend, evacuating tenants, searching units, venting ,stretching lines. getting the roof and plain old firefighting so list me as perplexed.
