Not coming from an EMS background I have very little knowledge of Narcan. Anyone care to explain to reasoning behind not letting EMT's or other first responders carry it? What are the side effects of it, or the dangers of it being used when its not an overdose?

You people want a swim test as part of the process ? How about requiring a high school diploma first ?

I read that the cause of the fire was electrical? Is this true and if so, are there more specifics available?

According to this ABC 7 article, investigators reported it was from the electrical connection to a rig inside the firehouse. Does anyone know of any other time this has happened ?

The tanker was NOT empty. A past chief dumped the water right away into a porta-tank.

Thanks for the correction, ABC also has edited their story to remove any mention of an empty tanker.

Has anyone else heard anything that can confirm the ABC report that the tanker was empty ? If so, any reason why a tanker would be left that way ?

So, because the dispatch didn't specify that the patient had meningitis they decided not to use proper PPE? Do they only use PPE if a certain danger is specified by the dispatch ? Do we just assume now that as long as the caller doesn't mention anything, the victim must be perfectly healthy and therefore we're safe from HIV, Hepatitis etc ?

According to the link, written exam is scheduled for Saturday September 14th. Oral is scheduled for the week of November 11th.

Before we jump to conclusions are there any other articles on this topic ? Call me crazy but a Facebook post from a private EMS agency might be just a tad biased. Any context as to how or why this came up ?
