  1. This call happend here in NY gotto WPDH.com thats where it was first played about two weeks ago on air. I think it happend in Fishkill not sure i dont remeber. funnist call i had was whent there was an attempted bank robbery in thornwood. I picked up the 911 line and the guy on the other end stated he lived in chappaqua and that the county police helicopter was flying over his horses and spooking them that if the police will keep the helicotper from flying there. I told him sir is there an emeregency right now at your home and he siad no so i gave him the none emergcny line (big mistake LOL) and hang up. He calls back in like 30 seconds and goes on and on how hte helicopter wont let his horses be. so finally i tell him look get me the cordnites of your home and i will take care of it he goes umm ok and hanges up havent heard form him yet so guess he never got them
  2. Not sure if pain is a protcal to call ALS, never heard of that one.But if your holding back meds or narcs to a Pt that needs it because of paper work there is a bigger problem then going lights and sirens to the ER. If your not going to use them whats the sense of being a medic you do no good showing up to my call. lets all remeber lets just go out there and do the right thing.
  3. was wondering what everyone thinks of it, is it useful, does it wrok and do you have one? Think only one has from what i heard its in Sleepy Hollow
  4. it was in sundays journal news, not listed as navey just an 800 number sorry i dont remeber the number but it is listed under firefighter in sundays paper
  5. I htink insteed of taking the time of saying step it up or expidite, start getting the pt into the rig, if its that bad you shold not be waiting for the medic anyway.
  6. check phelps hosptial they usaully have one
  7. LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- It's official -- NBC's "Third Watch" will not be returning for a seventh season. The network has opted not to bring back the Warner Bros. TV/John Wells Prods. drama about cops, paramedics and firefighters serving the graveyard shift in New York. The Peabody-winning "Third Watch," on hiatus to make room for midseason entry "Law & Order: Trial by Jury," will return with the remainder of its sixth season, ending its run with a series finale.
  8. please let me rephrase (since i got my butt kicked aorund LOL) I didnt mean that i drive balls to the wall every single call. But all calls get lights that i respond to. I dont use the siren much at all, unless it has to be used. But i was trained my NYCEMS pre FDNY days that all calls you respond to with lights on. Even during transport the lights are on, That is NYC protocal, as i understand there is nothing in state protocal about lights and sierns being used. As far as code 1 code 2 and code 3. This is the first i am hearing of it. I have been driving and teching for years now. I always stop at stop signs adn red lights even with lights and sirens on. So dont think i am driving like a mad man on calls. I have even made drivers stop and get out casue they where blowing lights to serious calls. From what i remeber VTL states lights and sirens do not get right of way you are requesting it, and if memeory srves me right the only vechile that has right of way is a postal truck, that question use to be on teh NYPD sergents exam. Sorry if igot off track EMD DOES WORK
  9. i just started watching some of it in reruns and everytime i see it that women cop is alwyas crying whats the deal with that. I think it is a lousy show wont watch it anymore in reruns or when it comes on

While Gabe was away He had a daughter born, Saturday will be the firtst time He sees her we all cant wait to see the look on his face the first time his eyes graze upon his beautiful daughter. Once again it is with a great honor Brother to welcome you home. Sgt. Gabe Hayes III WELCOME HOME BROTHER AND THANK YOU FOR A JOB WELL DONE!!!!!
  12. its always been the saying ALS saves lives BLS saves medics
  13. first of all you would be told by distpatch if there is for exapmle a hostage taken and then of course you would not use lights and sirens and as far as just the person throwing up well there is a resopn why that person is throwing up. I mean come on people i have been doing this for over 15 years and our protocal in The FDNY is you go to all calls lights and sirens, which does not mean you blast your Q or air horn at 3am in the moringn when htere is not traffic to tell you the truth i dont use a siren much only when i have too.
  14. from what i remeber is that you are suppose to respond to all calls lights and sirens (actually thats what you have them for) WHat happens if you respond to and unknowen and it has turned into a shooting and you didnt respond lights and sirens????? Try and explain that one to the jury. UM yes SIr your Honor it was an unwoen so we figured to take it easy and see the sights.
  15. there are alot of crossings outside our area that dont have gates

  17. You know i been doing this a long time now, and i find this funny, no not funny i shold say disgusting. Yes some of the medics if not all got what they desvered. But the Doctor who had it pointied out to him what 3 or 4 times that there maybe life and he discards that info. AND NOTHING HAPPENS TO HIM. wow. ](*,) and for his boss to say he arrived on scene with a pencil and paper not a doctors bad is a little scary. 8-[ From what i remeber (its been a while since i saw an ME on a scene) but didnt they carry doctors bags just to make sure or at least show up hours later to be on the safe side? it just amazes me how this happend

  19. Police were called, and they had Dumas transported to a local hospital. Laster, as she was being taken by ambulance to a mental health facility in Glens Falls, she jumped out of the moving vehicle as it was passing through Ray Brook. I am sure there was a struggle in the back of the rig. So why didnt the EMT tell his driver to pull over and help? You also have an option of having police ride with you, at least we do here for EDP's. What i do fine interesting is though are police quilfied to determine someone as a EDP. I have seen many cases in the city where you pull up to the police station and the police are just tired of the way the person is acting so they declare him EDP, and off he goes to the hosptial. I am pretty confident in my ability to treat EDP's.(Maybe i just been lucky with my EDP's) There is always someting else to learn about it though. I guess the best thing to do and remember Your saftey first then Your partners.
  20. I dont think the Jets will ever go much deeper in the playoffs with Pennington as there QB. He just isnt good enough. But still it was a great showing the Jets did yesterday. But the steelers with thier two great running backs who are very hot right now, it has to be the greatest one two punch ever in football. I mean the bus gets tired you rest him for a half a quater and they put the duce in. What a running game those two make. They always have a rested running back. I dont think there is a defense good enough to stop the running game right now. Now there passing game is questionable. Ratenhoweveyouspellit, showed he can be rattled. It should be a great super bowl either way. Would love to see Payton win it but seems he is going to be the next Marino and never win one. What do you guys and gals think of that? Have a safe and great long weekend all lets hope it stays quite today so we can enjoy the games.
  21. there is a test for FDNY EMT. it will be given june next year i think. it is a civil service test. FDNY will hire you with out taking the test but you will be only provisional. if you want civil service staus make sure you take the test.
  22. ossining was able to they where on a call up in croton and as we pulled into the nursing home OVAC was pulling in right behind us. SHAC gave the call over to OVAC since it is there area and they thanked us kindly for our help and we where on our way. lets face it all we are all on the same team. we have gotten grief from other Corps. when 60 control or Mount Pleasant calls us for mutal aid. we have caught grief from those corps for being in there area after we are on scene there for 10 mins and are packing the pt. into the rig then there ambulance shows up. But OVAC showed class and grace, and thanked us for our help and we moved along . remeber this all when the crap hits the fan we are all on the same team. some corps are up right now some are down its one big wheel. here at SHAC we are riding high but sooner or later that wheel may turn. and it could be OVAC coming to SLeepy.
