  1. Thats a really nice lookin truck! - anyone have more info on it? Nice website and nice video!
  2. WOW Its good to see he wasnt seriously injured Talk about a close call!
  3. I'd have to agree with Gowans-Knight apparatus, and another good manufacturer with some pretty sweet trucks for the mini attacks looks to be 4Guys- check them out at www.4guysfire.com
  4. I first saw pics from this truck when they were on the 4Guys webpage- looks like an incredibly sweet truck, and the best part is, ITS A MACK!
  5. Over the years technology has advanced and so has the apparatus we work with on a day to day basis. So i come asking these questions: Cabs- The enclosed/heated cabs with seating for larger crews or the much more "fun" jumper seat half cabs? How about lights? The LEDs and super strobes of today (which seem to hurt your eyes a lot more) or the old school rotating beacons? Telescoping light towers or searchlights? Doors and mirrors- Roll ups and back up cameras or lock and handle and side mirrors? Sirens and horns- Electronic or mechanical and air horns? Which do you think are better now a days, and vice versa.
  6. As i came across the GMC Topkick that Vista owns, i noticed it was called a quick attack and not a mini attack. It also seems to hold quite a bit more water than that of a mini attack with a 500 gallon tank, almost as much as an engine. Another thing is that this truck carries the jaws on it as well, making it a rescue. Does anyone how or what this truck is classified under in Westchester County (I didnt see it listed on the full roster sheet) and how it came about to be called the "quick attack"?
  7. That certainly is a nice Mack! Just saw it on the news, good job guys!!!
  8. I was driving around the other day and saw the truck that i believe Stephen Morea was describing- (and i believe this is the "utility 26"), but an old chiefs truck, a white 1990's chevy suburban with a red stipe- i saw this truck behind Pound Ridge Auto Body shop in Pound Ridge....thats gotta be it....
  9. ENGINE 109 BABYYYYYYY ...and the 1968 Maxim S(in the museum)
  10. even though they already have a rescue, this utility looks more like a medium duty rescue than anything...
  11. I couldnt help but noticing that across the northeast and maybe the nation, one of the most popular chassis on which rescues and pumpers were built used to be the Ford commercial duty C-Series Cab Over. (Manufacturing of these trucks stopped some time ago). Does anyone know why these trucks were so popular, or anyone have more info on these trucks? As for the ones that ran or still run around the area i can think of Pumpers- Pound Ridge Engine 111, Thornwood Engine 290, Scarsdale Engine 57, I believe North White Plains has one as well. As for rescues i believe that ossining and mt kisco once ran rigs, as well as cos cob and darien in ct.
  12. Could you bring your family or kids to this place?
  13. Sounds like a pretty sweet truck! Speaking of Round Hill- why is their tanker listed on the county apparatus roster? Is that the only rig from CT that is on the list?
  14. While it is winter time, and we did just get two feet of snow, provided your department recieves a call during these adverse conditions-(just wondering) should your department have access to a plow when tire chains dont cut it? Now, im not saying that you should mount a plow to a seagrave (though i wonder how that would look), but should chief's trucks and utility trucks have plows? Would this be more efficient than contacting a DPW crew and having them respond with you? If your department has one, do you use it? I'm pretty sure i saw a plow mount on fairviews new utility... Any feedback or information would be great, thanks!
  15. BUT REMEMBER....your vehicles can be taken even when they're not at a scene; i believe it was a few months ago that an idle rig outside of a station up in Continental Village was about to go on a call got stolen. Aparently anything can happen....
  16. Is there not a designated spot or landing pad built for the helicopters up at the hospital in poughkeepsie?
  17. ..always love good stories like that one
  18. I guess this means that after ladder 51 (yorktown heights) goes out of serivce, Banksville is the only mid mount left in the county...
  19. Who in the county actually runs mid mount sticks? (only ladder trucks) So far i got banksville and yorktown heights...
  20. In Bedford we have about the same as you do so far, and some of the drifts are well over two feet. I still think there is a lot more snow to go before this storm winds down...
  21. PUT ON THE PLOWS AND LOAD THE SALTERS! ....hopefully no wind with this storm....
  22. ANYONE have pics of that rescue 28?
  23. As for my department.... All the rigs, regardless of the number of bays available in reality, would be housed in the Banksville firehouse For the FIVE engines: (MACK ATTACK) E-138 1968 Mack CF- Goldens Bridge E-142 1996 Mack RD- Vista E-199 1983 Mack CF- Croton-on-Hudson E-88 1975 Mack CF- Thornwood E-108 2000 Mack RD- Bedford (source pumper) For the ladder and tower ladder: L-51 1968 Seagrave- Yorktown Heights TL-14 1982 Sutphen- Mt. Kisco Hooks For a tanker: Tanker 7- 1989 Mack R- Banksville For a rescue: (Medium Duty) Rescue 24- 2000 Spartan- Goldens Bridge For a mini-attack: MA-11-1969 GMC- Banksville For a utility: U-12-2003 International/E-one- Buchanan For all three chiefs cars: All would be 2006 crew cab dodge power wagon editions For an antique: Old E-108-1968 Maxim S- Bedford THAT'LL DO FOR NOW...
  24. Pound Ridge for starters runs three engines, engine 111 (2nd due i belive), a 1978 ford C model/pierce, as well as engine 112, a 1998 2000 series international 4x4 source pumper with a custom gowans knight front mount pump panel built much the same as Bedford's engine 108. As for the first due engine, they run engine 113, a 2003 spartan/gowans knight build, and this is among one of the favorite engines on the board. For a rescue, they have rescue 22, a medium duty rescue mounted on a 1988 chevrolet/pierce 4x4 chassis. This truck can also be used as a "mini attack" as i carries hose, water and a pump on board. Speaking of mini attack, pound ridge runs a 1993 ford f-450/saulsbury mini attack 21. Also, they run tanker 3, a 1993 Spartan 3500 gallon tanker ( again another one of the favorites on the board.) As for cheifs cars, i know they have a 2003 ford f-series supersduty crew cab pick-up, a truck which i see around ALL the time. As for the "utility 26" mentioned in a previous topic, i have never heard of nor have i seen this rig. On another note, pound ridge also has the pound ridge volunteer ambulance corps with a ford e-series (78-b1) and their former 78-81, a 1998 g-series braun (78-b2).
  25. Though i think it was vaguely mentioned before, i was wondering if someone could tell me about the propane truck explosion a while back over I-287...i know the bridge hasnt been fixed since this incident occured. As for fires, the major structure fire in 1996 that burned through Mt. Kisco Books, Baskin-Robins and damaged other shops on So. Moger Ave.
