  1. Great shot of a sharp looking rig! Best of luck to the Chappaqua FD with their new purchase. ......and, I second the inquiry regarding a wetdown.
  2. Yeah, that was the plan. They moved the fire vehicle production to Hamburg, NY (RDMurray plant) for engines and Ephrata, PA (LTI plant) for ladders. But, earlier this year, they closed both of those and moved everything back to SC. I assume they're still making the "garbage" trucks there, too. Insert own joke here.
  3. I don't know if Campbell dropped ALF altogether, or if they just added Crimson to get themselves some work. Last time I visited Campbell's site, they still had the ALF logo among those that they sell. (EDIT: Campbell's new delivery page updated as of June 18, showing new ALF products for Newark (engine) and Plainfield (mid-mount tower)). ALF supposedly had emerged from the bankruptcy protection, and was in the process of consolidating everything back into the South Carolina facility. That was the last I'd heard. Little Ferry, NJ has an ALF tower on order, and people are saying it'll be a Christmas present, if they're lucky.
  4. The Catskill Fire-Cats (Catskill Chapter of SPAAMFAA) are pleased to announce the launch of our new website. It is still somewhat of a "work in progress", but it contains photo galleries of our recent muster, as well as a number of the trucks that are stored in Andy Leider's Circleville warehouse. Photos of our participation in a July 4 parade have also been added to the message board. Feel free to check us out! http://www.catskillfire-cats.com
  5. The model year is in the mid-'70s. I want to say 1975, but not 100% sure.....been a little while since I saw that one "up close". Wow.....who took it over there? Usually it's one of our guys with their own rigs. Surprising to see one of Andy's trucks get out that far away from "home". Was the current New Canaan ladder there, too? That would have been cool to see!
  6. A few days ago, when .com was loading, something called "hardcore" would appear on my desktop. I trashed it without opening.....doesn't seem to have caused any issues. Hasn't done it today or yesterday.
  7. While I was busy getting caught up with viewing and sizing photos last night, I decided to take care of some of these as well, since no others have been posted. These are from the 100th Anniversary parade at Golden's Bridge, back on June 13. I didn't shoot every rig in the parade, and actually passed on some that I would have liked to get. The reason being that my camera's battery was on it's last legs (fourth event of the day for me!) and I needed to preserve it in order to get some things I wanted in the final division. A few of these shots may be a little blurry - combination of low light and vehicle movement - and for that, I apologize. Starting off, the apparatus of the Golden's Bridge FD, including Engine 138.
  8. And last, but by no means least, the beautiful Engine 109 Seagrave from Bedford. Hope everyone enjoys the pics.
  9. During a brief break in the action, I moved around the corner. Wow....I wish the entire parade had been able to come down this street. Not possible, however.......'twas a Dead End. Oh well..... Here we see Thornwood's Rescue 75 and Carmel's newest Pierce engine.
  10. Mount Kisco's beautiful Mack CF was in a little bit of a hurry to catch up with the rest of the line , but as someone on Firepics said, a bad shot is better than no shot at all. What I wouldn't give for some one-on-one time with this baby, a nice backdrop, and some sunshine! Followed up by the new Pierce Velocity of New Fairfield, CT.
  11. Members of the Catskill Fire-Cats (Catskill Chapter, SPAAMFAA), accompanied by their respective significant others, and Cricket, too!
  12. Yorktown Heights Ladder 51 and Bedford Hills Tower Ladder 57.
  13. Not to be outdone by Tanker 8 and Ladder 3 from New Canaan.
  14. Connecticut represents! Cos Cob Patrol 2 from Greenwich, and Turn of River Engine 64 from Stamford.
  15. Beautifully restored Ward LaFrance engine from Croton Falls, and a classic ALF Century from Putnam Lake.
  16. Engines from South Salem and Somers.
  17. Golden's Bridge Engine 140 and Tanker.
  18. Hawthorne was the last rig in line (little Freightliner rescue-type thing) and came out very blurry.
  19. And, last but not least, one more shot of the beautiful Seagrave of Turn of River (Stamford, CT) getting fired up and ready to take it's place in line. Most of what followed it came out blurry, due to darkness setting in. I do have several other shots that I didn't size yet. If anyone has any requests, feel free to ask, and if I've got it, I'll post it. Aside from that, hope you've enjoyed my offerings.
  20. Engine and tower ladder from Purchase. And.....I'm not usually one to go for the "artsy" shots, but it was the first time I'd ever seen this rig in person, and I wanted to make sure I got a shot of it, one way or another. Pleasantville Rescue 47, with and without the flash.
  21. The Pierces of Mount Kisco.....one from each company. Wish they'd have brought the newer ones, but can't complain....these are sweet, too. Maybe next year?
  22. The "twin" (well, almost ) Spartan/Smeal ladders recently delivered to the area: Port Chester Ladder 31 and Mount Kisco Ladder 43.
  23. Engine and tower from Larchmont. Nice pair of Pierces from "out of town": Totowa, NJ and Levittown, NY (Nassau Co.)
  24. Nice contingent of sharp looking rigs from Darien, CT.
  25. "Then" and "Now". Or, "The old" and "the new". Call it what you will, beautiful stuff from Thornwood!
