  1. Amen.
  2. An OSHA cite is the least of worries....
  3. I think it is both lack of experience and electing inexperienced people to fill positions. I have always been an advocate for officer training. Firefighter training was stepped up a bit with FF1. Why not officer training??? The classes are there. My biggest peev is people who are put into positions to train others with no formal instruction on how to conduct training. It happened to me years ago but I decided to take the necessary classes to help me do the training and it was a big help. We need to catch up to the times...anyone agree...disagree...
  4. Fire wall is an AOL program. I use WInMix and my son uses Limewire for music downlaoding. Thanks to all for input. I have someone coming over to look at it for me.
  5. May he rest in peace.
  6. My machine ( Dell) seems to always be racing lately? I am also getting alot of firewall messages asking to block internet access for certain programs. Between me and my son we download music. Could this be the problem? Any computer experts out there that can help me? Thanks...
  7. Regardless of what your views are on any war, past or present, let us never forget those in uniform who fought and continue to fight for us so we can freely express ourselves. We take for granted the freedoms we have, thanks to those in the armed forces, such as expressing our opinions in forums such as this.
  8. My condolences to the Byrne family. May he rest in peace
  9. Best of luck to you and your bride....
  10. Cant' get any cheaper than a bullet....
  11. It is actually more of a utililty than a rescue.
  12. There are two books in NY that a new commisioner and new chief should read....one is the blue book which is the fire district officers guide which spells out soup to nuts how to run a district as well as what qualifications should be. The other one of for chief's produced by NYSAFC which is currently under revision. It spells out what a chief is responsible for as well as qualifications for all officers. Both books are a must and also referecne many laws such as general municipal, town law, etc.
  13. Mine is ready every day...
  14. Congratulations to Capt. Kerr on his retirement. Hope to see ya more at the training center this summer. Andy Mancusi
  15. Any departments roll thier quint first due? What kind of water are you carrying on the quint and what GPM do you have. Just doing some research. Thank you.
  16. I hope we stay behind to be honest. What a dangerous law.
  17. I read Pressure's post and disagree with some of it but I don't think it is fair to jump on the guy because he has expressed his opinion on here. While as a chief and an instructor who interacts regularly with our youth I will say some of them are respectable and eager to learn while some of them do have this know it all attitude but it is up to us to allow them to prove them selves as we did...not here on EMTBRAVO but where it matters. Actions speaks louder than words. Let's respect eachother's opinions.
  18. You make a good point but you have to remember a board of fire commissioners are trustees for a fire district. A fire district, like a town board or village board is an arm of state government. If you look at the make up of most town and village boards you will see ordinary citizens elected and charged with making decisions. Is it a requirement for a town board member to have knowledge of police, recreation, public works, etc? No. Yet they are charged with the responsiblitites of appointing or rejecting people to positions, voting on budgets, etc just like a fire district. A fire chief is a district position. In a career dept a chief is appointed by the board based on his/her test score and also qualifications. It is really no different in a volunteer dept ( minus the test which wouldn't be a bad idea) as it is still an appointment.
  19. I'm there....
  20. To all of those who came out and supported our blood drive today in honor of Joe Scaplehorn Jr, I wish to thank all of you on behalf of the Hawthorne Fire Department. I was pleased to see many emergency service members supporting this very important drive. And also to the members of Hawthorne...big thanks to you who helped out.
  21. Chief, all the luck to PFD and thier new rigs.
  22. How about video cameras mounted on the rigs that could aid in documenting actions taken on the incident ground especially when you furst pull up. Could be a handy tool to aid the C/O team with investigations.
  23. Being a plane buff I say go for it !!
  24. Any incident requires a report. We file them via computer. Usually the junior officer on the run gets dumped with the report.
  25. I have been saying this for years. Leave if you don't like it here. Move to Iraq or better yet Iran. I am not crazy about picking up the paper and reading the honor roll of our troops dying everyday in fact I feel we should pull out but to go to a funeral of a service member and protest the very same person who died for this country in front of thier families is criminal. This b**ch is nothing more than an insurgent, a terrorist who uses God to fuel her cause. She is no better than Bin Laden and should be dropped over shark infested waters. Mean and cruel as Hannity put it was being nice. She represents a church that is not reckognized by Baptists so my guess it is a mail order organizaton that allows them tax exemptions by the very same government that they curse. God forgive me but I hope she and her followers rot in hell !!!
