  1. I didn't know that I wasn't following the rules. I think that I am. I haven't cursed on here. Just making a point. Isn't that what EMT BRAVO'S about? What did I accuse you of that isn't true? This has nothing to do with LE. People do break the LAW everyday in front of me. Can't get them all can I? I know what you are saying. We need rules or there will be ANARCHY.
  2. Your kidding right? I have never said anything bad about the site in general. MAYBE ABOUT THE way that you just close and pull posts without anybody seeing them. Yeah I have a problem with that. I am a very intelligent person and can write a post without cursing. In some instances however a CURSE word works better than another word. SETH you take things way to personally. Nobody is taunting you. The site is very informative on some topics and on other topics ridiculous. That is what makes it so good. I don't have to read the topics that I don't want. You will see if you read in past posts the I stick to things that I know. I might ask a question in a post because I like to learn stuff.
  3. I agree with WOLFEMT. I like this site because I can read or start about topics that I am interested in. It doesn't bother me if somebody curses. Personally I think that if somebody doesn't curse then there is something wrong. If you are not attacking somebody then WHO CARES. I am pretty sure that everyone that comes on here CURSES on a regular basis or hears it just around the PD HQ, FIREHOUSE and AMB CORPS. Lighten up. I am not saying fill POSTS with CURSE LIKE WORDS but this site gets a little ridiculous with the rules. I know what you are going to say. "IF YOU DON"T LIKE THEN GO TO ANOTHER SITE".
  4. I don't know how this is going to sound so don't take offense to any of it. WITH PD/FD whether PAID or VOLLEY the COMMUNITY knows about it. If you asked a common person in this COUNTY who their ambulance provider was they would look at you like you had two heads. There are too many COMPANIES and/or VOLUNTEER AMBULANCES out there. I guess the best example would be RYE/PORTCHESTER/RYE BROOK. Look around Westchester and tell me any other AGENCY whether it be Village/Town/Hamlet or whatever does this? 3 Towns combined into ONE. That is the way all these LITTLE TOWNS should be. Does anyone know how many calls PC/RB/R do? How many do they miss to MUTUAL AID? I would like to see those numbers. Nobody is going to take EMS seriously when they don't know what ambulance covers them. They definitely won't take them seriously when they know that they can't get an ambulance when the need it. On to the UNION. I am for any EMS UNION. Private company OWNERS can screw with employees whenever they want with little to no fight from the EMPLOYEES. Sure they can sue but that costs $$ and EMS isn't paying all that much that. I hate that. Almost like this site. NO OFFENSE SETH but if you don't like what somebody is saying you close and pull the post and most recentley took some points from people. You know what I am getting at. A UNION brings STABLILITY to a COMPANY. Now here is my biggest issue. I don't know how many PAID or VOLUNTEER AGENCIES there are in WESTCHESTER but the image that EMS portrays is DISGUSTING. MESSY UNIFORMS with SHIRTS OUT OF PANTS. Some people wear uniforms some wear sweats or jeans. That goes more for VOLLEYS more than then anything. I am not saying that every COP or FIREMAN has the best image but EMS is nowhere near that. SHAVE, LOSE SOME WEIGHT and WEAR A UNIFORM THAT IS CLEAN AND FITS YOU RIGHT AND EMS MIGHT START GETTING THE RESPECT THEY DESERVE.
  5. I didn't know that everyone had VIRGIN eyes and ears. Way too sensitive if you think cursing is wrong. I curse all the time. It doesn't make me stupid it just happens to be a habit. If it is the only way to stay on the forum then NO PROB.
  6. Just call an ambulance you might get one or you might not. ZING Seriously I wouldn't call an ambulance for anything that wasn't life threatening. I know that you will prob get seen faster if you do call an ambulance I just don't want to take one out of service.
  7. That is Ridiculous. Wait there is a bad word in there. Come on Seth if there is not actual cursing who cares? Why don't you take a poll and see who it offends. Seriously. I know what you are going to say but you want us to voice our opinion so here is my OPINION.
  8. I know this is last minute but tonight at the THIRSTY TURTLE in WP there is a PD/FD/EMS Appreciation night. I just talked to one of the managers and here is the deal. $40 all you can drink from 9p-1a. Half of the $$ is going to the BURN UNIT I believe over at the MEDICAL CENTER. I know of at least 1 person that is selling FDNY T-Shirts for a LT that DIED in the Bronx. After the tragedy over the weekend might be Shirts to help the other families. Not sure how it plays into PD/EMS but What the Heck if your not working and can get out of the house for a little while stop down and show your support. I have asked the owners many times to do something like this without it being for somebody that is dead or hurt. Guess they finally took me up on that. Hope to see some of you.
  9. I think that we should be able to speak our mind whether the BOARD agrees or diagrees. Some topics get closed out because the BOARD doesn't agree with it. As long as we follow the rules about not bashing certain things we should be able to talk.
  10. So yesterday a few guys from my job went to Brooklyn for PO TIMOSHENKO'S funeral. We met at HQ with some of our WHEEL GUYS then went to the 1st Precinct in Yonkers to meet with the rest of the WHEEL guys and others from YPD going to the Funeral. YPD charted a HUGE LUXURY BUS and followed with a Tahoe. It was awesome on the ride down. I would have to say there were at least 15-20 Motorcycles and bunch of POLICE CARS from different DEPT's. I was the Tail car which was great because I wouldn't ANY traffic by us. The Wheel Guys who to me are the NUTS and I can say that because I know a bunch of them were great. Closing intersections, getting us over the bridge for FREE. It seems that by the time we got to the Brooklyn exit there were about 30 Bikes and I dont' know how many PD cars along with guys in their POV's. I would only let them in if I could see their Shield and/or uniform. Traffic was backed up for MILES. Anyway we got there and we stood around for a long time. Ceremony was over and we were on our way home when I heard one of our WHEEL guys on our radio doing a prisoner TXP from out DEPT. First of all, our radios don't even work in our town yet they were working CRYSTAL CLEAR IN BROOKLYN. So we called the WHEEL GUY and asked how he got home so fast. We sat in Traffic it seemed like hours. He told us that HIGHWAY 1 came over to the WHEEL guys and told them by ORDER OF THE POLICE COMMISHONER NO OUTSIDE AGENCY COULD RIDE. HIGHWAY 1 was extremely apologetic to everyone so they left. They should have put that on the FILE 25 when the announcments came out. I guess this is for any or all you WHEEL GUYS that might have been down there yesterday and know the story better. RIP OFFICER TIMOSHENKO
  11. Chris I totally agree with you. How come when I am working I don't see these IDIOTS driving? When I am with the Family I see every possible scenario right before my eyes. Time to start building my RAY GUN again.
  12. I am totally speechless which is really hard for me to be. I really don't know what to say. Whatever I do say will come out wrong and I will be called a racist when in Reality I am a REALIST. This world is so tainted. Can a WHITE PERSON join the VULCAN SOCIETY? Just curious because I know that a BLACK PERSON CAN JOIN ANY SOCIETY they want. How can these people work together? I would hate knowing that one of my BROTHER FIREFIGHTERS was blocking my PROMOTION because they want to get ONE OF THEIR OWN IN THERE. TOTAL BS. MAYOR DAVIS is a CROOK and A SKELL. HUDSON you are off your rocker. Why do you need to live in the CITY to be a LT? You think that all the Bosses in FDNY live in the CITY? What about Yonkers, New Ro or any other job for that matter. That in itself is discrimination. LOVETT is an excellent LAWYER and I can see him taking this all the way. There should be a stop on the LT position until this sorted out.
  13. Yonkers man killed by car on downtown Chappaqua sidewalk By JONATHAN BANDLER AND YARON STEINBUCH THE JOURNAL NEWS (Original publication: August 9, 2007) CHAPPAQUA -A 61-year-old man who was well known for his kindness and sense of humor was struck and killed by a car on his way to Starbucks this afternoon. Gregory Cook, a resident of Yonkers, died on a sidewalk when a car driven by an 80-year-old woman slammed into him about 2:15 p.m. on Lower King Street at the busiest intersection of the hamlet's shopping district, police said. His daughter, Jennifer Cook, 36, a Chappaqua firefighter, went to the scene of the tragedy and helped the traumatized passers-by -but was unaware the victim was her father until she was notified by the fire chief about 6 p.m. "I had a horrible feeling but I thought he could not be my dad," Cook said last night in a telephone interview. "I was just worried it was one of my friends." Cook said her father was a regular at Starbucks, where he made people laugh, and was about to cross the street to go there when he was hit by the car. She had been planning to meet him there later in the day. Gregory Cook, a gym coach in Rockland County, spent most of his time in Chappaqua, where he doted on his daughter and 35-year-old son, Christopher, said Jennifer Cook, a massage therapist. Elaine Schapiro, the driver of the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, apparently lost control following a sharp curve on King Street's steep downhill. Merchants, shoppers, diners and pedestrians knew something was wrong when they heard a screeching noise as the car approached North Greeley Avenue. The Chevrolet shot through the intersection and jumped the curb, knocking over a stop sign in front of Sotheby's International Realty and crashing into Cook. The car then crashed into two parked cars before coming to rest on the sidewalk. "I asked if (Schapiro) was OK. She was shaking and not saying anything," said Diane Dietz, a waitress at nearby Chappaqua Restaurant & Cafe who heard the crash and went to see what happened. "I honestly think she lost control. It's unfortunate. It's sad." Schapiro was taken to Westchester Medical Center after Chappaqua firefighters pried off the roof of the car and pulled her out. King and Greeley is one of the intersections in downtown Chappaqua where the town of New Castle has been studying ways to make it safer for pedestrians. The ELDERLY STRIKES AGAIN. I bet CLINTON is going to put a ban on DRIVING in CHAPPAQUA now. LOL
  14. I am not saying to deny anyone who calls 911 a MEDIC/AMB. What I am saying is that FACILITIES need to realize that they can't just call 911 when they feel like to get a patient out of their FACILITY. What happened to the FD/PD TOPIC? I was just about to post and it was gone. SETH YOU SHOULD HAVE LET THAT GO ON. You will never be able to get to the root of the problem if you don't let people vent about what is wrong. Just my Opinion. I guess what I need to do is talk to the people in charge. I know they don't understand EMS as well as I do but maybe I can make it clear somehow.
  15. I understand what you are saying about what type of EMERGENCY or if the facility is just DUMPING off the PATIENT. To the FACILITY STAFF calling 911 makes it an EMERGENCY on my end. That forces ME/US to dispatch a MEDIC/AMB. When you get there you may find that the Patient has been having trouble for some time and probably needed to be TXP earlier than later. That is where it gets hard. Do you tell the FACILITY not to abuse the 911 system? They like to play like they don't know when the really do. That is my question. Where do we draw the line?
  16. You can always just call for the BLUE TAXI. It is the rest of COUNTY that is SCREWED.
  17. None of me either, but when I used to read the LOHUD in person I found my exact name in an OBITUARY. I cut it out and kept it. Then when I was at Foxwoods I forgot my COMP Card and they asked for my name and it happed to be the other guy. I told them he wasn't around anymore. Should have checked to see if he has some good comps.
  18. I started this out as an ELDERLY Topic because of an accident. I agree there are some really clueless drivers no matter what age you are. I can't STAND WOMEN who DRIVE SUV'S and CAN"T SEE A THING. They can't park, they drive in the left lane. I can't stand it. There is nothing that we can do but since I started this topic an 84yo man died and another drove into a pond. That is only what was reported.
  19. We now have like 6 guys that go out at least once a month in our town and HAMMER the truck drivers. Sometimes they get together with COUNTY PD and set up on RT 9a or RT 9. I know they make lots of money for the TOWN. I need to get into that UNIT.
  20. How is it that all these CELEBRITIES can get away with breaking the law? Nicole Richie gets 4 days in JAIL for her 2ND DUI. Paris Hilton did whatever time she did but was given food that no other prisoners got and she was able to use a cell phone when others weren't. These things were provided for her by CO's who were probably "taken" care of by her parents for helping her out. Britney Spears is seen in the paper holding her young child on her lap as she drives down the road. And how can we overlook the LOVLEY LINDSEY LOHAN. She avoids jail by going into rehab which obviously didn't work. She then gets out and get caught again DUI and possesion of COCAINE. There are plenty of other CELEBRITIES and ATHELETS who get away with whatever they want. If it was me or anybody else that got arrested for DUI and it was my second offense I would most likely be looking at JAIL time. I don't think that the JUDGE would let me enter a PROGRAM for a problem that I said that I had. I am sick and tired of all these FAMOUS people being treated different. When are people going to show some B*lls and stick up to these people? I know that money talks and the good lawyers can get these people off but then that means that the LEO's aren't making a good enough case.
  21. I can? Thanks for telling me. Sorry I had to do that. I wrote that in my opening post. I see tons of old people driving around that I don't think may be in a safe manner. What am I going to do write them all up? I would probably get sued for DISCRIMINATION of the ELDERLY or something. All I want is a test to be given EVERY YEAR. Both written and road test. Just like when we first learn to drive at 16 or 17 I think that is how people get when they are OLD. Maybe not as confident as they once were. Eyesight, hearing, relflexes all going bad. Does not mix in a car.
  22. Bob I am going to go with $1. 8/16 @ 0816hrs
  23. Thanks for the article. I guess Isurance companies may get hit harder if they are making payouts. Not only is vision a factor but I believe that reaction time could be the key thing. I am sure that most ELDERLY wear glasses by the time they are 70y.o. so their eyes may just need to have a higher RX. I don't think reaction time is judged all that much and that is where the problem comes in. Either going from the brake to the gas or the gas to the brake. I still think a renewal every year after 70 should be a FEDERAL LAW or at Least a NATIONAL LAW. In the span of 1 year all our lives change. We get older which is obvious but we may come down with Health Issues that we didn't know we had. When you are older this is more prevalent. What if you are over 70 with great vision, hearing and reflexes but suffer from DEMENTIA or ALZHEIMERS? That is a risk. I am not about taking people driving privelage's away. I just want the roads to be a little safer. From my story yesterday. At the age of 85 he was still playing TENNIS everyday. Now he will never feel his lower body again. That sucks.
  24. When I was in the PA, we were told that certain big name BUSINESSES have a budget set for CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYEES. This Budget is fit into their annual budget or something like that. Now I know around here that if you go into certain DUNKIN DONUTS, you barely pay anything if at all. I DO NOT GO INTO DUNKIN DONUTS UNLESS SOMEBODY INSIDE NEEDS A PICKUP. I DON"T EVEN DRINK COFFEE before everyone starts with the COPS AND DONUTS THING. Here is my thing. If I pull over a DR or a Nurse or a CON ED worker I would prob give them a break. Depends on what kind of DR but I would prob give them a warning. They just saved themselves prob $100 so I don't want to here that they don't get breaks. I priced DR's get tickets to events that we can't go too. Con Ed is just Con ED and I feel that they remember stuff so if one day I need them in my TOWN during a storm they may come a little faster if they remember. If they don't, they don't. I Believe that we have to take care of each other. Yes some of us get paid fairly well but this is WESTCHESTER and the prices don't seem to go down. So if I can go into a DELI and not pay as much for my sandwich as the guy behind me that works at IBM so be it. He made his choice to sit in an OFFICE and I made my choice to HELP THE PUBLIC.
  25. Not the guys on the DEADLIEST CATCH. Those guys are now so famous that they can't go anywhere without being noticed. I don't expect it at all. Sometimes it just happens. I got ID the other night out in WP. I was shocked when asked maybe even flattered becaue it was my BDAY and I am older than 30 so whatever. Anyway, my license is where my PD ID is. Soon as he saw the BLUE FLAP that covers my SHIELD he said that is all he needs to see and everyone with me got in for free. I didn't intentionally show him because most of the time I don't get ID. Worked out well I guess. In that instance would you have paid the cover anyway? BE HONEST I bet everyone would have walked in the door knowing that they can buy an extra round of BREW DOGS.
