  1. Video surfaces of choke hold incident in East Harlem, days before the Garner incident.... From CBS news; http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2014/07/23/video-purportedly-shows-another-nypd-officer-using-chokehold-on-suspect-in-east-harlem/ I am not a police officer, therefore I do not know proper procedures. However, I was under the impression that officers may use whatever force neccisary to place a suspect in custody, including punches/kicks. I was not at either incident, none of us were. There's always two sides to a story and there's the truth. I am certainly pro law enforcement and feel the LEOs face danger every tour they work. They have to do what they have to do to get the job done and go home safe. If you are actively resisting arrest, then you should expect that force will be used against you!

  6. Whoooooa easy there....believe me, I know this very well as many of my friends are Career, professional firefighters, many of whom serve in combo depts. Like I said, those weren't your words and I apologize. Another member suggested that YHFD would benefit from having at least a paid "driver." I don't agree with that idea, nor do I use that term when actually relating to career/professional FFs. Again, my apologies sir.
  7. Excellent points sir. I believe you've (in short order) hit the nail on the head. Why build a station in an area where there are few members to respond from/to? It makes no sense financially or logistically. 16fire5, Sir, you make excellent, valid points. But again, to suggest automatic aid or any form of such...how dare you! Joking aside, I can not fathom why auto-aid between the two agencies would NOT be utilized, especially in the area of question. ***I apologize for the multiple posts and quotes, having trouble posting, attempting to fix If YHFD had paid members, they would be best strategically placed at the existing stations and respond as such. Placing a paid "driver" (not your words), would solve nothing. It would just guarantee that a rig (engine, truck, tanker, go-cart) would arrive on scene in a timely manner with NO manpower. TFD141, I'm all for supporting my fellow brothers and sisters, believe me. But to have that support, I must be convinced of a certain need and function. In this case, I see no need or function. As shown, this has been shot down on numerous occasions with even very few members supporting it. In addition, it had been put on record that if built, this station would be most likely used as storage. I'm NOT a resident/voter in the district in question (not even close), but even as a fellow volunteer FF, I'd have my reservations.
  8. BBBMF, how dare you suggest dual response procedures, that's almost leaning toward consolidation....gasp, blasphemy 😳😉.

  12. I have been out of Westchester for several years now, therefore I don't really have a horse in this race. However, your post intrigued me to say the least. Are you talking factual information, hearsay or just plain BS? You say that "everyone makes fun of Squad 15 when it's really an engine." Who is "everyone?" a couple of jollies who are jealous that they are not on the job? In your vast fire knowledge, do you know what is needed on a rig to be considered a "squad?" Perhaps according to County standards, Squad 15 DOES actaually fall into the Squad category. How do you feel about Yonkers Squad-11? I mean after all, that just looks like an engine, no? I like when you said "there are a few other weird and different things about that TRUCK compared to most companies around here." This statement has me really confused...is it an engine, a squad or a truck? Also, what's weird or different about it? Now, all of that aside and onto your claim about the dispatchers at 60 Control having a bet. Wow, that's just a real immature, ballsy (no, just immature) statement to make. If this is correct, it is very unprofessional and the dispatchers who are involved should be ashamed. From my experiences with 60-Control, they are a very professional group of people. In closing, I could care less what a rig is designated as. Just so long as the members on that rig are fully competent and trained to do the task at hand.
