  4. Hahahaha 👍😂 Wait Alex, I thought you could be a Squad simply because it sounds cool, silly me lol. This topic came up not to long ago. You can call a piece of equipment whatever you'd like. But it better damn well carry the necessary equipment and more importantly carry members who are trained to the required level. I know that you know this, I was just being my sarcastic self.

  6. As M'Ave said, this can be a very scary incident. Quick thinking by the crew, glad they are all ok. Driving for the DPW, I've had a few "pucker factor" instances myself, it sucks to say the least.
  7. Always nice to see positive press regarding the police these days. Paul is good people, prayers for a speedy recovery!

  14. As a firefighter, it is never easy to see someone's home experience a fire. It hits that much harder when it's the home of a brother fireman. Pat and his wife Danielle are great people who give so much back to their community. Both families are military families who have fought for our Country. I know that it's hard to donate especially around the holidays, but if you can give anything to help these families, please do so.

  18. Goshen (Orange County) - Al Turi, chair of the board of commissioners for the Goshen Fire District, said that with membership dwindling from 195 firefighters to about 100, the district may have to hire drivers to get trucks and equipment to fires. Link to Chronicle Newspaper; http://www.chroniclenewspaper.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=%2F20141210%2FNEWS01%2F141219984%2F-1%2Fenewsletter%2FGoshen-may-need-to-pay-for-fire-service
  19. 1) This was the first I heard of this and am curious to hear more. 2) If they realized they have shortcomings in terms of membership and are pro-actively trying to fix that, I applaud them. 3) Personally, I feel that hiring "drivers" is just plain wrong. That just creates smoke and mirrors and unsafe operating practices IMO. Think it's time to hire career staff? Do it the right way. Better yet, look into consolidation/splitting costs for career staffing. Crazy I know, silly me.
  20. Are you insinuating that career FFs only work with Vol FFs in Westchester? Or just the opposite? Either way, your response is vague and quite misleading. As much as I read guys crying that the career guys bash the Vollies, it seems as though there are plenty of pot stirrers on the volunteer side as well. I am unfortunately not surprised....
