  1. Don't worry. Up in Dutchess county, the commercial service will cover your BLS slip and fall, then you can complain when the comercial service is out of units for the chest pain call that drops 5 minutes later.
  2. Mobile Life Support has the city of Kingston. ESA has a office in Kingston, by Kingston hospital I believe. They are the exclusive ALS to the Kerhonkson-Accord First Aid Squad.
  3. Worked Empress 3/99-9/00. Miss talking to Captain Murphy in support services at the start of every shift. I worked various Ambulance shifts until I got Tac 3 with Kim Zerlonick (forgive me if I spelled it wrong) on Fridays then Tac 5 and 1 for a 24 hr shift with Luke Romanoski. I also dated my Amb. 19 partner for over 2 years. I miss the city but not the company. Also remember the Mirniva's (again forgive me on the spelling) at the hot dog cart out in the yard during EMS week. But the cruise from New Rochelle to NYC was fun that year!! Another fun time was trying to fuel the ambulances in the back when all the ambulettes were parked there at night.

  5. Why doesn't the towns of Pawling and Beekman split the cost of a "float ambulance"? (A second ambulance in relation to the one each town has) It would sit in either Pawling or Beekman and if one ambulance goes out, it would move to the town the call is in. This would cut down on the mutual aid from each other. Also how many times are you calling for a second ambulance on an MVA or a second call in the district?
  6. I was just getting used to the warm weather. Remember SNOW is a four letter word!
  7. NF2G.com has fire and EMS tones for many counties in New York State. You can try there.
  8. Chester NY now in Highland NY
  9. Happy Birthday EMTBravo!!! Thank You for the site Seth!
  10. It's about time!! I always hated going there with Mobile Life and Chester VAC. It also made for a very interesting time walking on the Herritage Trail in that area.
  11. Keep up the good work Seth and thank you for the site. I don't post much but I read it about three times a day. It is now a part of my daily routine. Feel better and don't let a couple of losers bring you down. LONG LIVE EMT BRAVO!!!
  12. Just went to the Discovery channel at 11:30 it's not on. It comes on at midnight tonight.
  13. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear in my post. It was a psych pt that wanted to change destinations, but we go where PD or crisis team tell us to go. BUT I was just wondering what to do if a NON-PSYCH asked for the same request. Thank you all for helping me with the question I posted earlier.
  14. I understand a psych patient goes where PD or crisis team tells us to go. The question is about an alert stable patient.
  15. Just thought I would get an opinion here from everyone. Today I was transporting a psych. patient to Cornwall hospital. As my crew was getting onto the bridge to cross into Orange County, the patient changes his mind and wants to go to Poughkeepsie. This was not a problem because P.D. stated to take the patient to Cornwall. BUT, lets say you have a stable patient and start transporting to a hospital, and about 10 or 15 minutes into the transport, the patient changes their mind and want to go to a hospital a good 15 or 20 miles in the opposite direction. Do you divert, or continue to the first destination of choice. Example--stable BLS going to St. Lukes. Five minutes from hospital, patient wants to go to Vassar Hospital instead. Is this "kidnapping" because you are taking them to a hospital they don't want to go to now? Or do you just turn around and go to the new destination of choice? How would you handle this?
  16. 15 and to think I am a republician and I didn't care for Bill Clinton. Perfect gov---- Take some ideas from the left and right, put it all together and we should have a decent government. IN THEORY
  17. Hey everybody, stop bashing Alamo. This is NOT the place for it. If you work for a perticular company, take pride in it. Just don't destroy another one on the internet.
  18. Makes you think twice about how you drive through intersections even though it wasn't the ambulance crews fault. Amazing how much damage that SUV did to the "box". Thankfully no one was in the back.
  19. Any idea how much this ambulance costs? Maybe if I win LOTTO, I'll buy one for my company.
  20. A good website to look at is www.nycsubway.org. It has pictures and history of NYC subway as well as numerous links to other rail sites including Metro-North. When I was younger I would stand in the first car of the subway and look out the front window as we went down the track. Too bad you can't do that much anymore as the newer trains block your view to the front.
  21. It has been brought up how we can make the same or even less money than a clerk in a convience store. (no disrespect to anyone working at a convience store) Adminstration said "there is the door", and "EMT's are a dime a dozen." And people wonder why morale is low and a union was attempted.
  22. There was discussion about a union at my company this past winter. The employees were split, the newer people were all for it while the "old timers" said it would destroy the company. Administration sent out a memo stating why we shouldn't unionize and gave most of the medics a raise based on "the amount of certs or classes" they had. The EMT's got nothing saying they are being paid market value of $9.00 an hour to start. The union idea quickly died.
  23. With the increase in gas prices, doesn't the state get more in the sales tax portion of the price? Makes you wonder if Albany is enjoying the extra income at our expense.
  24. Well the METS lost to Atlanta last night. I've been a METS fan since I was three. The first week was great but they played teams like Washington and Florida. Now comes the real test on the west coast road trip... If they win out there, then these METS are for real. Go METS!! and revenge on the Yankees for our loss in the World Series with them.
