  1. Firefighters Become Medics to the Poor Interesting article about what we all already know.
  2. What's amazing to me is the vehicle at the light just continues on like nothing happened. Was probably on the phone, perhaps texting man you should of seen what I just saw...

  4. Probably the reason for the nickname "Olde Yankee". Nice catch.
  5. All those charges make sense except the "failure to obey a traffic-control device." as there is no traffic light along that stretch. Any insight to this charge? Do signs count as a traffic-control device?
  6. Everyone wears scrubs, you can't tell Nurses from the techs, or even the housekeeping staff for that matter, so why not the doctors too. They should standardize, colors, or something.
  7. We be cool if it took over the old Ruby Tuesday's by IBM, would be battle of the burgers, Red Robin, Five Guys, & White Castle
  8. Barkers = Ames = Gold Gym, etc.. Village of Fishkill Service Merchandise used to be a department store before. I used to work in that warehouse and run all over that place filling orders. Hess (Clothing South Hills Mall) Mays = Jamesway (Dutchess Mall) Bradlees used to be where Barnes and Nobles is now in Poughkeepsie (The Second location and not the old one which is now Dollar Tree) I always got a kick out of going to other Malls and you could walk through and see all the chain stores that never lasted at the Poughkeepsie Galleria perhaps the reason we don't have a lot of the franchise stores, they seem to start up in Newburg or Middletown before this area.
  9. http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachus...n_firefighters/ Some background as to why the public is outraged in their comments.

  11. Actually the last one was in June of 2003, I wonder how it would work now that PA is operating the airport.
  12. It's rare that the Poughkeepsie Journal manages to make a scene and take pictures, and even rarer to have good pictures. That being said these are excellent photos that some can stand on their own and tell a story. Colors are great with the Graffiti, Ladder and blue sky.
  13. I would have guessed that was a tree, not a branch. Carpenter ants at it again? I'm amazed the owner of the vehicle was smart enough to sit tight, I don't think most drivers have the mental capacity to think wires/electrocution instead it's i'm getting out of here cause I have no patience.
  14. That goes for cell phone too with me, and here it is I work with technology all day.
  15. Lots of buffs there, should be plenty of photos. Incident Alert First in Shot, show relation to Garner Engine Wapp Station 1 I got some other shots of ladder setting up, I missed how he got it under the wires, nice job on placement and setup. Dead batteries so missed a bunch of stuff towards the end, one shot I would of liked to got was the Central Hudson lineman climb the pole to disconnect power. The true master was there and I think he took a shot of it. Last edit to remove dupe attachment.

  17. At Least he finally retired the pull ups
  18. With all the recent Fires for 2009 you might want to make your Job Easier this year and make it the top 20.
  19. Radio Shack is clearing out Pro-160 scanners, I just picked one up yesterday. Not a bad scanner with trunking, Alpha tags, and PL tones and under $150. (129.97 or ~140 with NYS tax.) Took a couple of hours to program by hand with EDACS NYCOMCO Beacon, and Illinois systems, and conventional with alpha tags and PL tones. Worth a look if you are in need of a cheap mobile, or desktop scanner.
  20. It does have S.A.M.E but it's either a scanner or a S.A.M.E. weather alert radio, you can't have both. If you are looking for just S.A.M.E. there are much better products out there that do just that with battery backup which this scanner does not have.

  22. The church in Wappingers was all stick framing with OSB on the outside, with structural steel holding the loft, steeple and choir area. They did not make it far enough for insulation and sheetrock when it burned. Now that the rebuild it is moving along, they used sprayed foam insulation on the inside, and have painted the OSB with some tar type material. The outside brickwork has now begun.
  23. Poughkeepsie Journal has the scoop. As for fire not much damage.
  24. Oyster Bay Long Island to be exact. Atlantic Steamer FC It spent some time in Rombout while being lettered.
  25. Try this: Some people may deserve this treatment.
