As the end of the article states, EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED! Boy I am sure we have all had our fare share of situations that had to have a double take. Now in this situation the crew had no control over what exactly would go down, however let it be a reminder of how very critical scene safety and awareness is. There are countless incidents that are easily preventable that end in costly down time for front line equipment. Stay safe out there.

I have made it very clear in the past, that I did not vote for our new President. However like others have said, I will give him a chance, God knows this country needs it right now. At the same time though, I feel very bad for him, these people have turned him into some kind of God, and he is only a mortal. I hope for his sake the new administration can fix something. I am however disappointed with his decision to close Gitmo already. I still do not see what people are whining about when it comes to the prison, the prisoners are treated fairly and have some rights.

Fox was reporting the pilot was ex-USAF. His skills today were nothing short of incredible. Thank god no one got killed today.

That's quite an impressive rescue. Certainly puts the ma(ck)shift conversion to shame. Although that was definately a unique truck for sure. Best of luck to the City of Yonkers. And I too must echo previous comments, Yonkers certainly has an impressive and growing assortment of SOC equipment. This is certainly nice to have for Westchester.

The Crown Vic is certainly an interesting car. My family business is transportation, as a result we use Mercury Grand Marqs the very close cousin of the Vic. Ford has been using the Panther frame for the fleet cars (Town Car, Crown Vic, LTD) Since 1979! So far, after nearly 30 years of service, the basic car remains the last true land yacht, it covers a very specific market, there is little demand for change. I would love to see a new gen fleet car replace the tired and aging Vic, but the car keeps up chugging. Although they can be fun to drive in from time to time.

Tell distpatch to drop the tones for a mandatory vehicle detailing day. A couple hours and some good wax, we'll have er' back up and running in no time. Oh and $30,000.

I went and watched some of the many, many videos from this debacle. I must say, pardon my being blunt, but people are really, really, stupid. That is all that needs to be said about that. This video however, the "fans" really pissed me off as they tried to mess with the job this crew was doing.

It is not clear who first said the quote, however if history teaches us anything, I take it pretty seriously. It is a cruel forshadowing of what may happen in the coming years and decades.
