Sounds like the pilot transmitted a collision with a "flock" of geese, had engine problem, attempted to return to LAG for emergency landing and bellied it up in the Hudson. Glad he stayed in NYC cause I am working the YFD air!

I believe that R5 is on board Marine 9 and R3 is being relocated.

Several witnesses on different media outlets stating that it appeared like a controllled landing....like the pilot used the river as a runway.

Hopefully there are survivors. ATT FOX 5 they are not sure of fatalities, and they say the pilot steered to the hudson, to prevent going into a populated area. Hope all are ok and safe, both the passengers and rescuers.

I used to work on A320's they are beautiful planes, very modern, but FOD/Bird Strikes is dangerous no matter what the technology

There were boat loads of survivors fortunately .... you could see them on the emergency slide / rafts. Looks like most were evacuated to NY Waterway ferries.

Apparently there are 3 NYPD helicopters on scene and looks like a small fire boat was on scene fairly quickly, and a larger one on scene now. Most of the plane is underwater now.

FDNY SCUBA truck enroute with 5 divers.

Is the SCUBA truck always staffed or is this a resource that they staff when they need it and also aren't some of the members of the rescue compaines divers?
