  1. It is important for all to wear at least some type of turnout gear. As a chief officer or an IC, you may not be in the danger zone all the time, but you may get closer than you think at times. A friend of mine from a city dept related a story of one of his chiefs. Their chiefs routinely don coat and helmet at structure fires. The IC decided to take a closer look before donning his gear. Well, a firefighter ventilated a window and it came crashing down on the IC. He was now a patient and no longer a part of firefighting. It is just one more example of why it should be worn. One of the best ways to teach is to lead by example.
  2. I agree with nick. Having gone through an experience over 30 years ago, it would have been nice to have an array of photos. not only to see the time line etc., but all I have of what the house use to look like is a worn out black and white copy of the newspaper article.
  3. I'm going to build a darkroom for my son and am worried about the chemical waste that might end up going down the drain. Ie: rinsing of photos. I have a septic system and don't want to kill the bacteria (I finally, after many thousands, have a system that works properly). Any suggestions? Thanks
  4. Thanks for the info. It's amazing how much difference one letter will make! I checked out the site and the photos are excellent. I did speak to the owner and he is still in business. I just hate looking for a mechanic.
