  1. JMHO, but this is what happens when you practice "feel good" policing. You can give the guys hats and bats and armor them up like ninja turtles, but to clear a unruly crowd you have to give them the green light to do it correctly. And yes, this may mean people get hurt. And the city fathers and police command staff will not do the right thing. Happens everywhere.

  2. In looking at aerial photos, there seems to be a red tractor trailer parked in what appears to be the Ops/Maintenance area on the north side of the airport. Could this be a water supply tanker?

  3. My dept. just outside Boston has been "browning out" 1 company every tour since early this year. It will continue for the forseeable future, even after we gave concessions to prevent layoffs. We ran 5 engines and 2 trucks prior to the brownouts. This affects not only that safety of the citizens in the browned out area, but also the safety and well being of the firefighters.

  4. NYC water means NYPD is in charge until it is clear that it is not a terrorism related event(That'll be determined once the media clears out) at that point command is handed over to FDNY until all life hazards are mitigated, and then in this case probably the coast guard for recovery.

Actually, NYC CIMS says Water/Ice Rescue is a NYPD Single Command incident, however, Aviation Incidents are Unified Command with FDNY/NYPD as primary agencies. And, it happened on the (water) border of NY and NJ, to add to the confusion.

  5. After 38 years with ConEd, and the last 18 with Gas Operations, it's time to hang up my wrenches!

After (IF) we sell the ranch, we're moving to Cape Cod.

I guess I'll have to become a Sox fan, and join EMTBravo NewEngland!

Here's what I'll be doing much of the time
