  1. Get it in Connecticut, it's 8 to 10 cents cheaper, minimum.
  2. Good point, WAS, that's what I mean. Most of my worst calls occurred prior to the existance of CISD, so you did the best you could. Surprisingly (at least to me I quickly developed the ability to put'em away, but can be a little tough as I turn into an old fart when we get a bad one it kinda sets off some rough memories, but you just keep on going cause if you look down the street there's always somebody worse off, so it works out ok, anyways.
  3. Don't remember if I said it Friday Morning, but CONGRATULATIONS, SOON TO BE DADDY DADAY #2!!!!!! =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D
  4. Perhaps one of the best ways of dealing with some of the more tragic incidents is to discuss them on this board, cause wr're all here to hrlp one another!
  5. Jeff, for starter, look at Somers- Structure Fire- 11/15/76, That will make you think a bit.
  6. Reminds me of our triple fatal. Mom and two kids , on Daisy Lane I forget the year But I think it was New Years Eve 1986, the mom had gotten out but went back to find the kids, and all three died. Mom was by a window , but we didn;t find the kids until the fire had been extinguished for a while. I found the first one right under my feet we had actually been walking all over them during supression ops and never knew it. It was really bad since I knew the family, so I fully understand the long term feelings of all involved with the Somers Fire.

  8. Yea Mike, I get that too as well as Service Restricted and a whole bunch of other crap. I think we should all send e-mails and phone calls to complain vigorously to them!
  9. I just sent an e-mail to Nextel Customer Service about these problems. I stated that many Public Safety Personnel Use Nextel DC extensively and are VERY unhappy with these problems, so let's see what happens next LOL
  10. Let's do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  11. Yes Cutty that's one problem I've been having I know that in the last three or four weeks the tower in the Bedford Hills/Katonah area has had some problems, but yesterday and today at home (in Lake Carmel) When I would attempt to contact someone via Direct Connect, I would get the first "User not available" beep then nothing. I don't have a clue what that's all about. I think we all need to complain vigorously to Nextel!
  12. As regards to the hydraulic pump, if you could have driven a 4x4 pickup to a point relatively close to the water, it might have worked. Not knowing the layout you were dealing with I'm not sure how it would have worked but this thing is quite portable.

  14. Just to clear the air, I hope nobody takes offense at my previous post. I agree the question was most likely asked by someone not involved with EMS, nor am I. I realize that leaving caps lock on might show an emphasis on a subject, and when I sent the original answer I didn't realize that it was set to that mode. I appologize to anybody who took it the wrong way.
  15. Looks like the 14th, or thereabout might be a big day One year in operation. Congrats Seth! Keep up the GREAT work!!!!!! =D> =D>
  16. Once again going back to the submersible hydraulic, it works in whatever you put it in --fresh water, salt water, sludge, muck or mud.
  17. This looks like a good use for the new hydraulic pump i wrote about in another thread.

  21. Jim, I hope this was only a minor setback. I hope everything continues as well as it has. we'll be thinking about all of you this Thanksgiving and allways. Good luck, and be safe in your journey!
  22. I'm not sure what year CFFD went with 60 Control, but we were one of the first. I would say it was back in the 80's ? But the minor problems (crowded 46.26 and the relativly few phone line and radio tie line or repeater problems) not withstanding, we have been quite happy with them. Overall I am unaware of any regrets. As a mater of fact, the first several years we were with 60 Control, they were very surprised with the great response time we've enjoyed. We have the good fortune of having a surprisingly large number of members who work in the District who can USUALLY respond during working hours.
  23. Well Put eclemente! and God Bless ALL Veterans Living or Dead, past present and future.
  24. Thanks, Mike, I would really appreciate that.
