  1. You mean they won't be able to sell fake NYPD unit patches to tourists that don't know any better anymore? Say it ain't so!
  2. To be fair she is a DOC employee, just not a CO. I don't think we've seen the last head roll over this one.

  5. A volunteer member of Branford, CT Fire used one about a year and a half ago during a fire at a quarry near some explosive magazines. Provided great recon for the IC. There was an article floating around about it, I'll try to find it.
  6. Should we get a radio interoperability thread started? I see this escalating quickly.
  7. From my understanding, it was a union issue related to the PPE policy. A lot of the guys there have bought their own and worn them, but HFD has never issued hoods. Its stupid and reckless, but it sounds like its FINALLY being addressed.
  8. Third alarm was transmitted for this job a few hours ago. Numerous companies to the scene and relocations.

  10. Honestly I don't know much about YFD or FDMV, but given all the discussion about mutual aid on here over the course of the last few months, I figured some might be interested in this article.

  14. Will they be using Morons Morris & McDonald's McDaniel for the oral portion of the exam as well? If so, enjoy that particular charlie-foxtrot.
  15. Not that M' Ave needs someone to back up his statements, but in my experience this is 100% true. Some of the most welcoming houses I've visited were in completely off-the-path areas of Brooklyn and Da' Bronx, simply because they aren't easy to get to, and they appreciate the effort and attention. I still BS now and then with a few of the guys I met in Brooklyn a year or two ago.
  16. West Haven's Allingtown FD should be ordering a replacement for their former lemon of an E-One Tower Ladder this week. http://www.nhregister.com/general-news/20150420/west-haven-could-sign-contract-for-new-870k-fire-truck-this-week 75' Quint from Pierce, $870,895.
  17. Best way to get into a house that might otherwise be too busy for visitors? Knock with your elbows. Haven't met a crew of firemen yet that was too busy for a box of cannoli.

  19. He was retired from FDNY, then worked at a chemical plant in Jersey for awhile, then Mohegan, now Wilton. Also teaches at UNH.
  20. Already?!?!? Didn't they just recently hire Chief Kanterman from Mohegan Tribal FD?
  21. There are a lot of misconceptions about PG, mostly by people who have never once been down here, or who have only seen a video, read an article or two, or "heard from a guy that used to ride down there." Sure, we're not even anywhere close to perfect, but there's few places where someone can go and get this amount of experience in this short of a time period. I'd advise anyone who thinks they know how PGFD operates to come do a ride-along at a busy PG house and see for yourself. The door is always open.
  22. Charles County is now Department 10.
