  1. Seth; Go with the Edge if you can find one. I have a 2011 Ford Edge and I get 9.2 l/100kms which equal 25.6 mpgs in Canada. I have no problem going from my home to Halifax and back a distance of 610 kms on one tank of ful and have some left over. The only thing it doesn't have is the nav system, roof rack and leather.
  2. If you live in Canada or the Midwest in the winter, it would keep the operator dry and warm to do his work. You don't have to live in the Arctic or Antarctic to have snow and cold weather.
  3. I think New Jersey Emergency Vehicles (NJEV) is the Smeal dealer for New Jersey and a subsidiary of PL Custom/Rescue 1.
  4. I agree with you to a certain extent. But what if that pumper or TDA was on a medical run and then a call for a high rise came in. How would you handle it and what would the insurance company say.
  5. I see alot of departments are sending Aerial Platforms & TDA's on medical calls. What is the justification there. In the sense that a lot of fire departments in the US of A are closing fire houses and staions because of budget cuts. Can they not use a half ton utility or Explorer type vehicle for those type calls to save on fuel to stop the closing of buildings and cutting staff.
  6. TMC

That is only as good as the satellite picking up the signal. That also only works if you have a CAD/CAM system which I don't have. I have been on both ends of the phone. I work in a dispatcher center that looks after 25 fire departments and the mile markers come in handy on the highways especially when someone does not know the area or sees a good landmark.
  7. Happy Birthday EMTBRAVO.
  8. Yarmouth, NS Canada 391 local department Dispatch Centre 1124 26 departments
  9. According to the picture it is an AEV and not a Demers Sprinter.
  10. Merry Christmas to all EMTBravo memebers from the Yarmouth, NS Canada Dispatch Center
  11. Maybe the Fire Departments should get out of EMS work and do strictly fire & vehicle ex. duties and leave the EMS to the Medical field.
  12. Question?? Who does vehicle X the Yonkers PD or Yonkers FD??
  13. Happy Anniversary to EMT Bravo and many more years to come. Enjoy the site.

  15. Rest in Peace Hal Bruno. You will be greatly missed in the Fire Service.
  16. It all depends on the situation. 1. If it is a DNR call - it is from the time dispatch gets the call from 911. 2. It is a DUI MVA it is from the time 911 gets the call. 3. Regular fires & alarms from the time first unit radios dispatch and leaves the station.
  17. Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnepeg, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal may be beter; but I still follow the BOSTON BRUINS.
  18. That is all well and good but what about us CANUCKS in Canada.
  19. How do you expect them to go to work and not eat?? If you work an 8 hour day like you propose, the crew from 8 AM - 4 PM is entitlied to lunch around noon. The same for the 4 PM - midnight crew is entitled to supper around 6 PM.Lets see you go 8 hours without eating. Also that would be 8-4 Monday to Friday 4-12 Monday to Friday 12 - 8 Monday to Friday which gives you 3 platoons of workers from 8 AM Monday to 8 AM Saturday morning. Now who is going to fill in from 8 AM Saturday to 8 AM Monday over that 48 hour period. without staggering the shifts. Are you going to have parttime crews to cover the weekends. That would be two platoons working 12 hour shifts. That would be 8 AM - 8 PM & 8 PM to 8AM. Now the day crew would be working 12 hours without eating but should be entitled to lunch & supper according to regular Department of Labour rules. 20. I have a good question. What is the insurance companies take on this if you don't respond??
  21. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SETH.
  22. One queston the middle picture is it backwards or is the lettering backwards.
  23. We used to have a siren/whistle that would sound the box number for an alarm for the town. It was taken out aboput 30 years ago when pagers came on stream because the general public would count the box number that was blowing and get their before the paid crew and/or volunteers and clog the street and the fire apparatus and firefighters could not get close to the scene.
