  1. UHF, around the 450's, if it's the FD I think it is
  2. Nope. In both El Segundo and Monterey Park the local and the Chief supported consolidation. In El Segundo anti-consolidation groups cited minimal savings and loss of local control. In Monterey Park, anti-consolidation people accused the union of supporting the measure so they could "have upward mobility in a larger department" despite $2m in savings. 3. Hermosa Beach is a seaside town of 19,000 with a fire department that consists of one fire engine and an ambulance. If you can't see how regional services delivery could help a community like that I don't know who could. The whole south bay consists of two engine and one truck departments like Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo, and El Segundo which could regionalize like say, North Hudson NJ or the Verdugo cities in the LA basin. Besides those, there's Torrance, a mid size department and then the inland cities like Inglewood, Hawthorne and Carson as well as the Palos Verde area which are all LACoFD.
  4. At least two other cities (El Segundo and Monterey Park) with similar demographics to Hermosa Beach tried this recent years. Both were defeated by taxpayers at referendum even though they came with savings.
  5. Yeah, "BMA", I agree, keyboard commando.
  6. You are really good at using Google images, I will give you that. I'm aware that fire department buses and transport trucks exist. I am also acutely aware that space ships exist. Yes, it is still dumb. We're not talking USAR or wildland. It's not a crew of part time college kids with backpacks and rakes. You have a fire station with firemen and fire trucks and now you want everyone to buy a bus to take instead of the fire truck. You are advocating buying 8-24 duplicate SCBAs, hand tools, saws, flashlights etc. To put on a transport bus. To take to a routine fire. Yes. This is still very dumb. Also if all the firemen take the bus, who is going to be there for the fire engine anyway? I'm starting to see the writing on the wall of why to stop reading this site. I'm arguing with someone on the internet if firemen should take a bus or a fire engine. Time to find a new hobby.
  7. Probably the dumbest thing I've read on this site in over ten years, impressive
  8. Tragedy of this magnitude and people cry because they didn't get to move up to a different fire station.
  9. You sure showed him, a whole 18 runs he missed
  10. No, this takes the place of the haz mat bread truck, like he said above.
  11. I love the commitment to mediocrity. Commit to training as much as you commit to excuses and everyone will pass.
  12. Uhhh....if you're going to the roof, you get off the rig with a pack on, get the ladder up and bring your saw up.
  13. Yeah, pulling ceilings.
  14. This is a misleading statement that really annoys me because people who don't understand it ( i know you do) regurgitate it. No, if you are supplying your 3000gpm rearmount aerial with two monitors, you should not use the front intake. But at many of our bread and butter fires we're flowing one or two 1.75"s at 185 each and maybe a 2.5" at 325gpm. In other words, that 1000gpm cap will be fine. The front intake has a soft suction preconnected, it's fast and good for tight streets.
  15. My favorite part of EmtBravo....A keyboard yahoo from Saskatchewan telling the guys who ride the rigs how it is. The Ferraras suck, end of story
  16. The rig isn't symbolic of anything bigger than just a machine. No pride in the machines. Got it.
  17. I'm pretty sure I've been looking at this website for at least eight years if not longer, and the same people are still making the same posts about wetdowns and parades. Does it ever get old? Does anyone still wonder why this forum is dead?
  18. Saw the old 51 at the same Ralph's just off the airport property last year. .
  19. Always fire based or third service. If you wanna be a commercial agency, expect the respect (and pay) of any joe blow urgent care clinic.
  20. EMS people constantly ask why they aren't respected as stuff like this happens. EMS should never be part of a commercial service. Don't expect to ever get public safety recognition when you act like a business.
  21. Nope, it's under attack. Don't judge the situation by one letter.
  22. Admittedly I don't know a ton about drafting but I didn't know you could get a good draft with storz connections.
