  1. Are troopers even issued traffic vests? I know they don't carry certain ems equipment like aeds because the state doesn't want to spend the money outfitting every car with them. Maybe it's a similar situation with vests too not that it's a good excuse for them not to be purchased.

    KINGSTON — The city will once again battle its firefighters union in court over staffing levels.

    Mayor Jim Sottile filed a petition in state Supreme Court Oct. 27 to try to avoid arbitration over filling a vacant firefighter position. Sottile requested that the Common Council abolish the vacant position on Aug. 17, and it did so later that day.

    Security Officer - EMT

    Basic Function and Responsibility:

    All applicants must be certified as NYS Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to be considered for an interview for this position.

    To provide a safe and secure experience for all guests who visit Mohonk Mountain House. Provides patrol functions in the Mountain House, out- buildings and property. Responds to safety, security, and traffic problems. Makes observations in order to protect assets and provide a safe environment for guests, visitors, and employees. Administers first aid and emergency care. Responds to fire, trouble and burglar alarms. Is responsible for carrying out the policies in order to protect life and assets. Assists guests by responding quickly, efficiently and courteously. Follows and upholds the guidelines established in the Department of Safety and Security Standard Operating Procedures.

    Essential Job Functions:

    1. Responds to any needs relating to safety and security of our guests, visitors or employees.

    2. Performs designated rounds and patrols functions, including, but not limited to, day hiker patrol functions and functions serving alcoholic beverages.

    3. Reports hazards, and makes observations on issues which affect the safety and security of our guests, visitors and employees.

    4. Receives complaints. Investigates and documents incidents, according to Standard Operating Procedures.

    5. Carries a portable radio to provide immediate response to emergency situations.

    6. Maintains records and writes detailed reports in accordance with Safety and Security Department Standard Operating Procedures.

    7. Provides traffic control and enforcement of Traffic Rules and Regulations.

    8. Adheres to and enforces company policies and procedures. Follows the guidelines established and outlined in the Department's Standard Operating Procedures. This applies to the service of alcohol, securing restricted areas and key control.

    9. Provide assistance as directed by the Night Manager, Manager on Duty, and Night Auditor.

    10. Promotes safe and secure working procedures in a manner which is perceived as helpful and friendly.

    11. Responds to Medical Emergencies and administers first aid to ill and injured guests, visitors and employees, in the Mountain House and on the trails and grounds.

    12. Must be knowledgeable of Mohonk's Emergency Management programs.

    13. Needs to be familiar with Gatehouse procedures.

    14. Duties not limited to those listed above.

    Abilities and Qualifications:

    1. Must be physically able to transverse the property, both inside the Mountain House and outside grounds for the purpose of patrolling, performing designated rounds, processing and parking cars, and other designated tasks.

    2. Must be able to stand in a stationary position for long periods of time for the purpose of patrolling functions.

    3. Must be able to manipulate and use necessary equipment such as hand held portable radios, keyboard for both computer terminal and fire alarm panel, flashlights, key rings, VCR, first aid and fire fighting equipment.

    4. Must be able to bend, lift and carry heavy loads of at least 75 pounds, for long periods of time and on rocky and steep terrain.

    5. Must have a valid driver's license, free of serious and multiple infractions.

    6. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle with either a standard or automatic transmission and perform routine care of that vehicle.

    7. Must be able to work in stressful situations and under pressure. Must be able to adapt to changing priorities.

    8. Must be able to speak English and communicate in a clear and congenial manner, with our guests, visitors and employees.

    9. Must be able to read and write in a legible and orderly manner in order to prepare reports that are considered legal documents.

    10. Presents a neat, clean and well groomed appearance.

    11. Must possess or be able to obtain New York State Security Guard certification.

    12. Must have valid First aid certification with a minimum of a NYS Emergency Medical Technician.

    13. The work schedule includes staff working a variety of days which include weekends and all holidays.

    Relevant Experience/Educations:

    1. Prior work experience in a security related field.

    2. Prior work experience in dealing with the general public.

    4. Fire Fighting experience and/or training.

    Paramedic needed at the West Point Military Installation. This is a per-diem position and must be able to fill any vacancy as needed 24/7.You do not need to be a NYS paramedic or Hudson Valley remac certified, but you must become familiar with the Hudson Valley protocols.
