  1. i know all about mutual aid very well and i agree with you to a point.but there is favoritism.

I think your comments are very ignorant and you being an IC yourself should keep to the facts on an incident and if you have any questions or concerns voice them in a professional manor. Monday morning quarterbacks are great. You should be ashamed of yourself, if you think you can come and do our job take the test and get on the list.

  2. The Department of Labor & state insurance say otherwise. If you fall and get hurt while "hanging out" you are able to get workers comp because they have ruled that you are "working".

Barry I know you are covered under liability insurance lets say you fall down the stairs and/or cut your hand etc. and that would be covered under the 8 hours a week I stated during drilling, cleaning and maintaining equipment. But as far as logging hours greater then 30 hours a week to make the municipality liable to insure the volunteer I think is a farce.

I will go as far to say on an individual basis you might get someone to try and get a municipality to give them insurance because they can't or are not willing to get it themselves, and they want to try and make there case. In my opinion, if this person try's this with any village manager that has half a brain they are just going to tell them "good luck with that".

  3. I don't like getting into political debates but, my volunteer FD's do not track hours worked and do not require me to do a certain amount of hours a week. Hanging out at the firehouse is not considering working. The only time you are considered an employee of the village is from when the alarm tone sounds until the apparatus is returned to station. So if my Department does about 1100(busy for a volunteer department) calls per year each call taking approximately less the 1 hour (for argument sake lets say 1 hour) that's 21 hours per week on average for a busy department. So even if you add in an 8 hour's for training, meetings, cleaning fire apparatus Etc. per week which is unheard of the argument is invalid.

Republican or Democrat I agree with "Obamacare" and I think if when the exchanges open on Oct. 1st and 56% of the 30 million uninsured people can get insurance for less then 100 then it will be a success. if not then I would be wrong

  5. A White Plains man is clinging to life after being struck by a car in what authorities described as a tragic "double hit and run" incident that also left two good Samaritans early Sunday.

Police said Raul Rios, 23, who served briefly as a city firefighter, is in "extremely critical condition" at the Westchester Medical Center," after being hit by a car near the Kennedy Fried Chicken restaurant at 120 E. Post Road.

I believe that Raul is still a member of a volunteer agency in westchester. All the best wishes for a recovery and thoughts and prayers for his family.

  6. Honestly I have both systems Xbox360 and Ps3 it really depends on what and who you are going to use the systems for they both have there strong and weak qualities. The who side, who else in your friend circle has which system because it is fun to play online with friends. Graphics and system durabilty are both competitive and can both be compared to be almost the same in my opinion others may think different. on a HDMI connection with a 1080p tv they both look the same.

  7. STAMFORD -- The cell phone seized from a Stamford police officer accused of showing a naked image of himself to a Norwalk woman during a traffic stop last week contained eight images of male genitals, court records show.

    Stamford Advocate article

If your going to have the audacity to show these pictures on a car stop you think you would be smart enough to let the person out of the ticket.... I'm just say'in....

This is just embarassing to the many good stamford police officers.... but I still have to say just WOW!!!!

  8. Just gonna throw this out there, but its not uncommon for a water condition call to end up being a fire that was put out by a sprinkler.

    1. Fire is UNcommon in most places. 2 . Most water conditions are called in by first party callers watching the water either rise in there basement or overflow out of water source. 3. This was I believe "Replying to Heard over the air -- you can't make this stuff up" was trying to be a funny post. 4. Last but not least NAME TWO if NOT ONE water condtion that you have been to or have heard that turned into a fire.

  14. Frankly, no she shouldn't. Her car was damaged due to no fault of her own. She was in a legal spot and paid the meter like a good law abiding citizen. Why should she have to pay to fix the damage to her car? I won't blame the firefighters either. They have far bigger fish to fry than worry about where a window lands that was blown/knocked out due to whatever (tho I should hope they made sure nobody was standing below). She has the right to seek compensation for the repairs to her car. I'll leave it up to the legal eagles to figure out who is responsible to pay.

I disagree with you because everyone is required to have insurance for these unfortunate instances she chose to take the cheaper insurance and took the risk of not being covered. If she had full coverage we would all not be having this conversation. She chose to take a risk and she has to lie in the bed she made. Your insurance is there for a reason not just in case you do something wrong but also if something wrong happens to you, your protected.

  15. I have been trying to get my local fire department a website with e-mail capabilities, I have 2 proposals from 911.webs and firehousesolutions.com. which I think are both great options. Anyone have any others that I should be looking into before I narrow it down to 2 possibilites. I'd like to keep my options open and get the best bang for my buck so to speak. I want peoples opinion from an end users point of view not a sales pitch. thanks
