1. I bet that mayor has a petite lap giraffe as a pet also
2. It always disgusts me to hear about a member of the service going to the other side. If he is found guilty he should be put under the jail, not only for tipping off skell drug dealers but for putting the lives of the undercovers at risk.
3. What a bunch of dirt bags.... I friggen hate thieves
4. I have ZERO sympathy for people who put drugs into their bodies. They know the risk... if you get a hot bag and thats the end of the line for you, tough s***.. you did it to yourself. I would much rather see the time of EMS spent helping the victims of Emergencies who didn't cause the situation themselves. Just my opinion
5. K was always supposed to signal the end of a transmission but it has taken on a life of it's own and has come to mean a lot of things. As far as " At this time", I know myself and a lot of other cops will say At this time when HQ will ask if the situation is under control meaning that the situation is under control right now but it's a shaky under control. Most cops when they hear at this time will start rolling toward the location just in case.
6. Last Night, 2/4/11 at approximatly 2300 hrs. Nassau County Police Officer Michael Califano pulled over a box truck on the LIE. As Officer Califano was sitting in his Radio Car with his overhead lights activated, the radio car was struck from behind by a car carrier type vehicle. PO Califano was transported to the Hospital where he passed away from his injuries. God Bless You my Brother, Rest In Peace. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and co-workers.
7. So now you are comparing barbers to surgeons.. thats just silly. If it was your goal to make this an "interesting discussion " you went about it the wrong way because your first post sounded like it came from someone with an ax to grind. I think this discussion has proved interesting but I don't think it has gone the way you thought or would have liked it to which is evidenced by your last line of " but this discussion validated what I thought... it is different." It honestly seems like you have something against law enforcement
8.

You being a dispatcher and having friends that are cops doesn't give you a law enforcement background. My uncle was a Yonkers firefighter who was injured on the job and got a diabiltiy pension but that certainly doesn't give me a fire fighting background.

The "taxes you pay" for police services will always keep you safe because no matter what a cop is doing they will always drop everything to get to a hot job ... if ESU is on a job then a patrolman will be there and help to the best of his ability.

You ask why is competition healthy ? Competition drives people to be the best whereas no competition breeds mediocraty and I don't know about you but i don't want mediocre cops firemen or emt's coming to help me or my family.

You talk about duplication of services ... I wonder if you are a union man because if you were you would realize that the more services you provide, the more spots on the roll call you can justify that means more people that can be hired.

John Q. Public that is in need of rescue doesn't give a s*** who is coming to help him first, he doesn't care if the truck is red or white, if it contains cops or firemen.. as long as then can help the citizen becuause when it comes down to it, thats what matters that the rescue is made.
9. Ive read this post many times and I still fail to see the reason for posting it but it most certainly requires a response. From what I know of you, you have no background in Law Enforcement so your ideas of how cops should feel about being cops and what they should do on duty may be how it is in a perfect world but in reality thats not how it works. This would be like me who knows nothing of fire fighting making critical observations about the fire service and putting all over the post " No offense guys" and " this is not a knock to firefighters". As far as I've seen, you're the only member on here from texas so you are the only one who could answer your own question of " why are police officers down here so different ?" I've been a cop for 12 years and I go balls to the wall every day I go into work as do most cops I know. Would it be nice to follow up with every crime victim we deal with ? Yes but we don't have the time or the manpower to do that stuff. How do you know that cops up here don't know their post as well as cops in Texas ? Cops are in a unique situation to be cross trained in rescue, where as FD's can't be trained in law enforcement specific things... thats just the way it is. You ask why is there competition ? There always has and always will be competiton in the emergency services and it's healthy to a degree. You ask why are there not more hudson river patrols ? There are in the summer but not so much in the winter but what does one thing have to do with the other ? The bottom line is that expanding the scope of your working capabilities means more job security and possibly more state and federal funding. The biggest difference between cops up here and cops in texas is that maybe cops in texas enjoy a lot more community support than cops in the north east get.
10. Pathetic is all that comes to mind. When the chief says " we need a libya - type movement by the citizens to take back the streets " REALLY BRO ? Thats just nonsense. When people are preparing to be mugged, something's wrong. When a city of only 80,000 is happy that they have less than 40 murders in a year, that sad. I feel for the brothers and sisters of the camden PD, i can't blame them for taking their time getting to jobs and not doing a bit of proactive police work... in a one man car with insufficient staffing, it's not safe. I know most municipalities are in a crunch but laying off half the PD is insanity.
11. It's amazing to see the anti GOP rhetoric on here every time something happens in this country. Let me say that I support an Arlington ceremony for this man to honor him in being that last surviving vet from WWI but to lay in state in the rotunda seems like a headline grab for the west virginia democratic senators. The buckles family spokesman said to one media outlet that he wasn't even contacted in regards to any planned ceremonies for buckles including laying in the rotunda so these senators took it upon themselves to try to do this without the consent of the family. Let's all remember that this story is barely verified, the info available on it is sparse at best. For those of you who like to judge the GOP on the zadroga bill and on things like this saying things like " the rich kid republicans" ... I guess you all forget about the rich kid kennedy family but i guess its only republicans who have money. You think the democrats care about cops and firemen... think again.... THEY ALL SUCK, BOTH PARTIES ARE OUT FOR THEMSELVES. Just remember when you get your pay check every two weeks and you see all that money taken out just remember who keeps advocating taxing and spending .. the DEMOCRATS ..... It's narrow mindedness like we see here at times that the democrats thrive on... shoot from the hip reactions help nobody and only deepen the divide in this country. No matter what the outcome of this situation, I thank you Mr. Buckles for your service and your sacrafice God Bless you sir and rest in peace.
12. Even I will admit that the Supreme Court made the right decision in this case. I would have loved to see the rights of the westboro church trampled on but shutting them down would be a slippery slope on the 1st amendment and against everything this country stand for. With that being said, take a look at the NYS Penal Law section I poted below. Going to a funeral in a church is excersing religous freedom so by these people protesting and yelling and holding up these horrendous signs right near a church or cemetary where a graveside prayer service is being held so I would think that if westboro came to New York to protest there is a good chance that they would violate this section of the penal law. Look at sections C and D § 240.70 Criminal interference with health care services or religious worship in the second degree. 1. A person is guilty of criminal interference with health services or religious worship in the second degree when: (a) by force or threat of force or by physical obstruction, he or she intentionally injures, intimidates or interferes with, or attempts to injure, intimidate or interfere with, another person because such other person was or is obtaining or providing reproductive health services; or B by force or threat of force or by physical obstruction, he or she intentionally injures, intimidates or interferes with, or attempts to injure, intimidate or interfere with, another person in order to discourage such other person or any other person or persons from obtaining or providing reproductive health services; or © by force or threat of force or by physical obstruction, he or she intentionally injures, intimidates or interferes with, or attempts to injure, intimidate or interfere with, another person because such person was or is seeking to exercise the right of religious freedom at a place of religious worship; or (d) he or she intentionally damages the property of a health care facility, or attempts to do so, because such facility provides reproductive health services, or intentionally damages the property of a place of religious worship.
13. I'm not sure where you are going with the second class citizen thing ? This woman is an American citizen as she was born in Texas. Now you are talking about locking people up in camps ??? Did I miss something ??? I don't give a s*** if this woman was from the US, canada, iran, tahiti or any other speck of sand in the world, her actions led to the death of 4 children... THAT FACT AND ONLY THAT FACT MATTER HERE
14. First things first, let's not forget the main fact that there are 4 dead innocent children here - THEIR RIGHTS are the ones that need to be protected. With that in mind let's not worry about the SUSPECTS 4th ammendment rights, let's keep in mind that the investigation has determined that her reckless / negligent actions led to the deaths of these children. I'm sure the answer will be " well what happened to innocent until proven guilty ?" My answer to that is if there is enough evidence to issue a warrant and persue prosecution then there is a VERY STRONG indication that a person is guilty. Just because a jury lets someone off the hook in no way means they are not guilty.. legally yes, but in the grand scheme of things no. There are mant questions in my mind. Why were the Houston PD not involved ? You have 4 children dead in a fire, at the very least you need to probe this to see if there was criminality. The one thing I read in the articles was that the Houston Fire Chief Garrison I believe his last name was said something to the effect of " We trusted this womans lawyer." ARE YOU KIDDING ME ? Anyone in law enforcement will tell you that many criminal defense attorneys are literally one step above the people they defend and in some cases giving them a whole step above is a lot of credit. As far as "not infringing " on the suspects rights.... first she should have been interviewed right away... she claimed amnesia.. did she suffer a head injury ? She claimed mental stress or some nonsense like that, right away a seasoned investigator would have been suspect of that. Putting a 24 hour surveillance on this woman while the investigation was progressing would not have violated her rights or " harassed her." Clearly she wasn't being searched, seized or punished by any way by following her movements. If law enforcement wanted to track her electronically then they would have needed the OK of the court. It seems like the DA dropped the ball, the FD dropped the ball, etc... We have a 76 year old extradition treaty with Nigeria and none of the 27 crimes listed on the treaty match what this woman is charged with. Interpol is involved as is the US Marshal Service and the hope is that the charges can be ammended to fit the treaty to expedite extradition when this woman is caught. God Bless the 4 victims, may they rest in peace
15. Thank You Officer Falcone for your service and dedication to the citizens of Poughkeepsie, your partners in the PPD, and your family and friends. You are a true hero, Rest In Peace My Brother.
16. Rest In Peace my Brother, my thoughts and prayers are with your family and your partners.
17. I am glad the Grand Jury Reached this decision, truth be told, this was the only decision to come to. These cops did NOTHING WRONG, dj henry did EVERYTHING WRONG... he drank underage, drove drunk and tried to kill a cop... THIS WAS ALL HIS FAULT. His parents are making fools of themselves with their statements and forget michael sussman, calling him an ambulance chaser is too good for him, that would be an insult to ambulance chasers. My prediction is that the feds will leave this one alone... the process has been followed, the officers have been cleared.. end of story
18. The superbowl is no where near the most important event of today. This is Ronald Reagan's 100th Birthday. I wouldn't post this for any president but Reagan wasn't just any president. He was our 40th and our BEST. Reagan is regarded by both sides of the aisle as one of the best presidents of all time. His smile, his wit, his patriotism, his conservatism and his vision for American still endure to this day. For a man with such a gentle face, he was a pillar of strength and a profile in courage. Happy Birthday Gipper, We Miss You.
19. There was no doubt that a shameful liberal like yourself would take the opportunity to bash a great man like Reagan when all this thread was about was wishing him a Happy Birthday. Judging by your age status 18-21 you weren't even alive during the Reagan Presidency so anything you know was taught to you in whatever bastion of liberalism ( sorry i meant college) that you hide from the real world in. You speak of Iran Contra .. first things first junior, no concrete evidence has ever been uncovered that directly linked Reagan to Iran Contra with that being said, the sale of weapons was devised to secure the safe release of 6 American Hostages that were being held in Iran. Some money was then funneled to the Anti Communist fighters but funding and arming anti communist groups is nothing new for the US. Were the other presidents that you mentioned good presidents ? Yes they were but they weren't the leaders that Reagan was. The rest of the world respected and feared him which ultimatly kept us safe... but thats something that rose colored glasses wearing liberals like yourself know nothing about. You have proven yourself time and time again on this site to be liberal, anti cop , anti government, and sometimes anti everything. You're obviously a young know nothing kid that thinks that your corner of the world is everything and the rest of us known nothing. You post your stupidity on here like you know what's going on when in reality you couldn't shine the shoes of the senior men and women who are on this site. I'm sorry about the rant guys and i know this will get pulled down real quick but you can only read this s*** from this guy so many times
20. This is another example of how little respect people have for law enforcement these days. This was a father, mother and daughter that were fighting with the SRO's that were detailed to the game. Unfortunatly this is not an abnormal situation. Any cop who has some time on has a story about trying to arrest a someone and all of a sudden their family members pile out of the house or show up on the street out of nowhere and now you have a brawl on your hands. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/parents-attack-police-during-wild-fight-at-nc-high-school-basketball-game/ The video is the second one down on the page
21. The ODMP is reporting that Yesterday, New York State Corrections Officer Casimirio Pomales was killed in an automobile accident on the New York State Thruway as he and another Corrections Officer were transporting an inmate to a medical appointment. Rest In Peace Sir.
22. I've read this stupidity 3 or 4 times trying to understand it and I think i am now ready to reply to it. You say that once you had an MVA with entrapment and there were 4 radio cars blocking the road with the officers not near the cars because they were down the street stopping cars ... so not one cop was tending to the person that was trapped in the vehicle ? I don't think so just like the fact that you are alledging that you pushed 4 radio cars out of the way with a rescue truck ... I don't think so and if you did then i'm thinking the cops on the scene would have taken issue with you later on. Let's move on to you're saying to a cop " Yo you got water and a hose on that car, if not get it out of here." Again i seriously doubt it but if you did say it then it was highly unprofessional. It sounds to me like you have some personal issues with cops because you come across with a strong anti cop sentiment.
23. I am sad to have just learned that Indianapolis Police Officer David Moore who was shot 4 times during a traffic stop 3 days ago has succumbed to his injuries. The ODMP says that Officer Moores' organs were donated after his death. This is an example of a true selfless hero who even in death is giving of himself to help and save others. God Bless You Officer Moore , Thank You for your service and sacrafice, You are a true hero.
24. There is no fear or respect for law enforcement anymore. People don't fear the law or breaking it and they don't fear going to jail because the liberals ( Yes I said it - THE LIBERALS) have made going to jail like going to summer camp. Jail should be hard labor, bad food, etc... and if you don't like it - DON'T BREAK THE LAW !!!!! Cops aren't allowed to be cops anymore and things like this are a direct result of that. We as cops know that the department and the municipality we work for will 9 times out of 10 cave in to a special interest against us so you have legions of cops that are hesitant when dealing with people... in this business hesitating gets us KILLED. Since all this nonsense like the CPR camapign in NYC and the other spin off programs we have seen in westchester, the attitude of the people you deal with on the street has changed and they now feel empowered to treat us however they feel becuase if the stop doesn't go how they want, they will just go to IAD and get us jammed even if we didn't do anything wrong. I'm sorry for the rambling but I am angry at all these shootings and I have a lot of anger as to how cops are restricted from doing the job the right way. It seems like it is now open season on cops, let's all watch each others backs.
25. I am speechless... I am sitting here shaking my head and reeling from the news of the last few days. Two cops shot in Washington state, an officer in Oregon is fighting for his life in the hospital after being shot on a traffic stop, these officers killed this morning and a psycho with a pistol grip shotgun walks into a precinct in Detroit and opens fire .. WHAT THE f*** ? I don't even know what to say but PLEASE BE VIGILANT ... Don't worry about hurting a civilians feeling or worrying about how your tactics will be percieved by the public.. WHO CARES.. AS LONG AS YOUR SAFE.
