  7. I totally agree with you E64, I have also never heard of anything going wrong, knock on wood, at WCFTC and the guys running it are excellent. But it only takes one time for something to happen and it is fairly simple to have a Ambulance there. Hey which ever department is training at that time just ask the Ambulance Corps that covers your area if they could stand by for you. Not such a outlandish request, I mean they stand by for alot of other things.

  10. See I am not the only one that ever noticed that. But even being that close to the Medical Center what do we do throw the firefighter up on the hose bed and do the "Johnny Gage" to the hospital
  11. Mariano Rivera may be one of the best closers ever, but the Red Sox definetly have his number. When the hell is Torre going to realize this and use Gordon to close out close games against the Red Sox.
  12. EJS I was believing in the Mets this year after all the off season stuff, and a good spring training. But at the end of the game the other night I just felt it was the same old team.. THIS FROM A DIE HARD YANKEES FAN...who are going all the way after a little hiccup last year....last year was just to lure everyone in to a false sense of confidence......
  13. I have a question, maybe it may be deemed stupid but, are the same requirements needed to be in place whether you live burn at a house like Bedford Hills did, or you using the buildings at your training center? Also I know in Putnam we have to have an Ambulance crew on standby for any type of live burn, do they require this down in Westchester, because I know in the past they didnt?????
  14. Most times the incident is small enough that one person can handle both jobs. But I agree there should be two seperate people handling these jobs no matter what the size of the incident.
  15. yup x635 I think you bumped your head again...
  16. In my opinion on every Chiefs line card when he/she confirms a fire they should automatically get a FAST Team, a Ambulance , and A Paramedic. I could care less about the percentage of fire scene calls that are BLS. or ALS. You should have the best possible care available immediatley to the firefighters or" victims" that are rescued without any type of hesitation. I would rather see the Medic stand there and be bored and NOT have to do anything, then be stuck in traffic, cant get to the scene because the road is blocked by apparatus, the ambulance cant get out because its blocked by apparatus, or the Medic is coming from a distance becasue they cover such a large area. As far as limited resources, well thats just too bad. Thats what mutual aid and relocation is used for, or have the Medic Supervisors get there asses out of the office and put more trucks on the road during a large incident. Yes the majority of times a Medic will not be needed on the scene, and most BLS crews have AED's and can do CPR, and are good at what they do. But do you want to be that firefighter that goes down and needs to be intubated becasue your airway is closing due to smoke inhalation, and there is no medic there becasue the Chief was too stubborn to request one. All the BLS and CPR, and AED's wont help you there.
  17. I think I agree with just about everyone hear, I wear my seatbelt whether driving the apparatus, ambulance, or fly car. But when I am treating a patient in the back of an ambulance I dont think I have ever worn one. Maybe we could all put our heads together and come up with a solution to that, where patient care isnt put at risk and we are better protecting ourselves. As far as the gear being secured down, I think WAS brought this up, the State mandates that everything is suppose to be secured down, but the question that always comes up is well if we are treating the patient something may not be secured down. When not on a call it should always be tied down.
  18. x635: Some very nice pictures there. NICE JOB.. It looks like there was a great turnout, hope it was a great teaching experience. And I could swear on some of those pictures on page 1 you can see an imagine made out of fire... Thanks for posting them

  20. you were there and got a pic of Eng 38, but no pics of the new white one...SHAME ON YOU
  21. You would think Truck that the insurance company would prefer that you " never" used lights and sirens, but we all know that is impossible... and I hate it when those nuns get in the way.....lol
  22. I cant tell you how many times I have triaged a patient BLS to an agency and gone back into service to only have them pass me going lights and sirens to the hospital. It is crazy but I think some services and agencies have a rule stating as long as a patient is in the ambulance they have to use lights and sirens. Trust me I dont agree with this at all. In my opinion 9 out of 10 calls whether they are ALS or BLS in the back of the Ambulance do not require lights and sirens to the hospital, no matter how far away you are. I think it does add to the risk of an accident and injury to not only other people but also to the crew, let alone the fact that I think the accelerator pedal is attached to the siren. Which in turn tosses the crew around in the back.
  23. I have a bunch of older fire pics, as soon as I find them I will submit them...
