  4. Maybe each department would have to submit a list of active members to qualify for the tax credit, and it shouldnt be available to exempt or social members because they arent really active. Life members is another story because they hopefully put in the time already. Yeah I know this stinks for the Chiefs and Officers because it may give them more work to do, but thats why they have the gold.. Another question I have, so my wife and I should get the tax credit each because we belong to different volunteer agencies even though we file jointly ( if this passes )???????
  5. So basically your saying your agency is going to become a first response agency to support the ALS service.. As far as I know the State could care less how many members or EMTS that you have, as long as any call that you agency responds to has an EMT on the ambulance. They dont have any requirements for how many calls you go on either.
  6. Pretty cool for Mahopac Falls. Great Dive Team, I think this would b a great addition to there resources. BEST of LUCK with it...
  7. West Harrison The old Tower Ladder 9 1980 Mack/Baker 75 foot, was orginaly bought from FDNY, I believe, and sold to KME in 2002. Its now serving in Mt. Vernon.
  8. Ok so I know this is way off for this network, but since were talking about Baseball, and Nascar, and other sports stuff, but for all of us that play golf, or I should say try to play golf, there is a Golf Show at the Wetschester County Center this weekend ( 3-19 & 3-20). Just in case anyone was interested...
  9. so does anyone have the new frequency that west harrison is using??????????
  10. I WOULD HOPE THIS IS A RARE OCCASSION
  11. Its absolutley ridiculous. Maybe instead of protesting not marching the members , all of them, should march and wear there green berets anyways. Whats he going to do suspend over a thousand members at the same time. Maybe another thing that can be done to show support is any fire department or emergency service that is marching have all of there members where a green beret, maybe this will show the Commissioner what an idiot he really is. With all the other issues out there this is just stupid in my opinion
  12. MLB

Hmmm thats a tough one........ hmmmmmm Y-A-N-K-E-E-S When I used to work for NYC-EMS, since my unit covered the Stadium area, we got to "sneak" into the Stadium during home games and catch a few innings from the bleachers. It was great until the Captain of the station saw us catch a homerun ball one night on TV. He was cool about it but gave us an earful anyway. And relax to all that will say it would delay response time, it was no longer of a walk from where we were then walking out of the station.
  13. They better lock the doors, as a matter of fact we better change the locks at the firehouse...HA HA just kidding
  14. HA HA 585... how much you willing to pay??? just kidding. I am sure youll do fine its like riding a bike.. and I know you were kidding but would you really want "some Medics" actually doing your test for you... One other point, I know it dosent happen that often, but it does happen, but the EMTs shouldnt count on a Medic always being there. Especially in Putnam where there are only four Medics, there is a chance that they are coming from a distance or not available for what ever reason. I for one take pride in utilizing all of the crew that shows up on the ambulance. It dosent matter what there certification level is, I make sure that everyone has something to do and everyone gets involved.
  15. EXCELLENT POINTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  16. 60 Control Gremlins..........

  18. A lot of the responses to this thread interested me. Like I said in the begining I wasnt picking on a particular agency or area. I do work in two very different systems, and have been part of the fire and ems system for over 20 years. I have seen some good ideas and some bad ideas come and go. Some have stayed and some were worthless from the start. The problem in Putnam isnt that there isnt enough personnel ,most of the time, its the question of how to motivate or re-motivate the personnel that is there now. There are alot of great EMTS and EMS people in this county, and yes sending the Medic on every call does hurt them. I understand why the County does it, dosent mean I agree with it. But the bottom line is whats best for the patient. There has been alot of talk out there about paid EMTS and paid Ambulances being used in Putnam, I dont think that is the solution. But it does need to be addressed and addressed before something bad happens. Every Ambulance service in the County has a set crew for night duty, and like PC422 said maybe setting something up with set daytime crews is the answer. They used to have a shared EMT program in the County, and it worked very well, where did that go? Someone from one of the departments made a great point one day, he said if everyone would just pick up one or two extra calls a week then this problem would solve itself. Until then I guess we will keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.
  19. Has any one else had any trouble ,besides the normal, in hearing the crossband frequencies for 46.260? I am wondering if it is just my radios, or was something changed, or its something else????
  20. I can attest that the Explorers in the Lake Carmel Fire Department work extremely hard not just in there fund raising but with everything that they do. They are a great group......
  21. I see that EMD worked very well for a gentleman in Putnam County as the dispatcher used it to instruct a person to perform the Heimlich manuver on a choking victim. The Heimlich was performed successfully... GOOD JOB =D> =D> =D> =D>
  22. Patterson dosent have there own school district. Doc is right about part of Patterson, more or less the Putnam Lake area goes to Brewster Schools. Carmel Schools are ok. I just dont like how they have the district lines drawn up for the elementary schools. IE: Matthew Patterson is in the town of patterson, but part of the carmel school district, and kids from Patterson, and part of Lake Carmel ( town of Kent) go there. No there is no Kent school district. IE: Kent Primary, and Kent Elementary have duplicate grades and are in the town of kent. ARE YA CONFUSED YET......
  23. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> GOOD JOB GUYS AND GIRLS
  24. good fire dept. in Lake Carmel as well.....lol
  25. OH NO THERE STARTING TO INVADE....lol IT all depends on where you go to look, there are good and bad points for every area that you guys have mentioned.
