Need Help Finding a Scanner Antenna

7 posts in this topic

I dug out my old Bearcat BC 400XLT scanner for my truck, but am having a heck of a time finding an antenna for it. I have looked a bit online and on eBay but "primary searches" were negative.

I am specifically looking for a hood mountable antenna - I think the hook up is called the "Motorola style"

Any help or links would be appreciated

Get yourself an Adapter from Radioshack and you can use any Antenna you want:

BNC to Motorola Adapter

$5.49

Model: 278-160

Catalog #: 278-160

This is provided that you can handle the hassle of them trying to sell you a new cellphone and them actually having it in stock.

They have a bunch of different antennas on their site. You do not want to get a crappy antenna. The saying goes "your scanner is only as good as your antenna". You can have a $1000 scanner and without a good antenna, it wont work any better then a $10 scanner.

If you want to monitor low band transmission, stay away from a glass mounted antenna!
