Authors note: I was waiting for some people to show up at the office after I got relieved this morning. I was out the door when the second phone call came in and hightailed it down White Plains Road. I made the turn on Seward Avenue as the announcement was being made that a roof rope rescue was in progress. Here's my shots.

It's not very often (a few per year) that one of these takes place and even more rare that a camera is there to capture the photos (it seems to be about every 5-7yrs there are photos). Consider yourself one of the lucky few to get one on camera.

Nice Job

Jimmy,

Those shots of the rope rescue are great!! I don't know why you don't think your photos aren't that good, but you're wrong. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, those are pretty good shots. What are you using? Also why did he go over on LSR (life safety rope?)?

I used a Fuji Fine Pix A210. Apparently, the victim had an arm out the window, so they went for the roof rope. It's actually called a Life Saving Rope. They weren't able to get to him because of the window bars and he was pulled out from the interior by Ladder 47's boss and members of Ladder 54.

No, cause there is no one famous in the shot, well maybe not "famous", more like celebrity.

Since the grab was made from the interior, it won't end up in the paper.

A word of advice that the senior man in my house told me and the other johnnies one day when we were repacking the LSR is that if you have to go over. Go over with a halligan as you may have to remove window bars. Ditch the halligan into the window after the bars are removed. Like usual he was right after seeing this.
