I thought that this thing was pretty cool. It is a Montreal Public safety golf cart.

OH MY GOD!!!!! A VW Beetle?! I'm shocked to even see it as a Police car!

As for the golf cart, I've seen worse.

Finally Montreal police bicycle patrol:

They seem to have a lot of officers on bike patrol and they make a strong presence around the city. Maybe rising fuel prices have something to do with it.

I lived in Montreal for 10 years and I can tell you that they need all sorts of alternative transportation for the police officers. Since the streets particularly in the old city are very narrow they need to have smaller cars like the beetle. Also the city is hosting one festival or another most of the summer so there are crowds of people everywhere. The police do a great job of getting around a city that is hard enough to navigate in a POV.

It's been two years since I've been to Montreal, but the one thing I remember regarding the police...

MINIVANS! Tons of them.

Ithaca PD also have a VW beetle used to patrol the downtown commons area.

Ive seen that bug from Ithaca. Its awesome because i saw a HUGE cop get out of this tiny car.
