From the Office the Chemung County Sheriff:

The Chemung County Sheriffs Office is currently investigating a one car fatal motor vehicle accident involving a West Hill Fire Department vehicle that occurred at around 6:00 p.m. on July 8, 2008.

Funeral Information

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 12 at Horseheads Volunteer Fire Department, 134 North Main St., Horseheads, N.Y.. A firefighter memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m.

Following that honor, Firefighter Ryan Barker's body will be taken to Park Church in Elmira for funeral services.

Only selected fire and rescue apparatus will be involved in the procession from Horseheads to Elmira.

Buses will transport firefighters and others from the fire department to the church. There will be security at the parking areas during the services.

Following the service at the church, people will be shuttled back to the firehouse.

Questions about the services may be directed to the command post at 607-739-4391.

Memorial donations for Barker can be sent to Horseheads Volunteer Fire Department, 134 North Main Street, Horseheads, N.Y.
