Mass Arrests in Yonkers 8/22/08

Location: Cross County Parkway and Saw Mill River Parkway

Frequency: Yonkers and County

Units Operating: couldn't really figure out who

Description Of Incident: units calling in numerous arrests with both highways shut down. Also requesting a bunch of tow trucks. Don't know what started it our who was involved.

From what I could make out County Pd with help from Yonkers PD were doing a crack down on street racing. They had the bird in the sky telling the ground units what cars were involved and where. The racers even had cars to stop traffic on the parkway and from getting on the parkway so they could race.That would account for all the arrests. Could be wrong.

Three city men were caught drag racing at over 100 mph along the Saw Mill River Parkway early today in an illegal contest in which organizers blocked the northbound highway, police said.
