Whelen T1,T2,T3

4 posts in this topic

On a newer truck I'm working, we have a Whelen siren.

Instead of it saying wail, yelp, and hyperyelp like all the other Whelen sirens I've sen, it justs says "T1", "T2", and "T3"

Does anyone know what the reasoning behind this change was?

I know this is trivial, I was just curious.

I believe that it's because Whelen defaults the positions to Wail, Yelp and Hyperyelp but the user can program the switches in any order he/she wants.

That is basically it. We have 2 and that is what I can see. Played with them a bit -- and yes it can annoy others so use some discretion--LOL. The newer siren units have the scan lock feature. Aside from choosing your Tone 1,2,3 you can also choose your Man 1,2

Gives ya lots of options
