Former Verplank Snorkel Fails Ladder Test

9 posts in this topic

Just read my upstate newspaper, In it there is a story about Middleburghs ladder truck [old Verplank Snorkel] that had failed its ladder test and will need over $4,000.00 worth of work done to it. They replaced it with a 1998 model ladder truck that they bought from a used dealer.

Too bad. That was a good rig. Hopefully it served them well for the time that they had it. $4,000 does not sound like a lot of money, but it is a 1973.

Stopped by the Middleburg N.Y. firehouse today to place a bid on the old Snorkel only to find out that they allready sold it to the local quarry. Will try to get some photos next time up to Schoharie county.
