Dobbs Ferry cop's death worthy of honor

DOBBS FERRY - Police Officer Peter Rodgers was on foot patrol when he was struck by a vehicle. He lived for 16 days before dying from his injuries at Dobbs Ferry Hospital.

But it took 85 years and the efforts of an alert village police dispatcher for Rodgers' story to be told - and for the veteran Dobbs Ferry officer to finally be honored.

Very interesting , good work Ed. I also remember reading that the First Line of Duty Death of a Police Officer occurred in Dobbs Ferry. A patrolman was walking on the sidewalk after a wind storm, he noticed a wire on the ground from a newly installed street light. Being unaware of the danger that an electic wire can cause, he picked it up. Very tragic ending.
