Firefighters rescue woman in White Plains apartment blaze

8 posts in this topic

WHITE PLAINS - A 78-year-old woman who reported a fire in her apartment was rescued from the blaze by firefighters who found her semiconscious near her front door at 90 Bryant Ave.

"They did a great job finding her and carrying her to safety," Deputy Public Safety Commissioner Daniel Jackson said of members of Rescue 88, the search-and-rescue team that found the woman overcome by smoke a few minutes after she called 911 to report the fire. "This is what they train for."

Great Job Brothers! But it needs to be said yet again..... Up here the Poughkeepsie Journal is set up the same way with the comments section.... And yet again, here someone has it out for the Fire Department. The comments made by albundy123 are uncalled for.... This guy needs to get a life. He has no love for the WPFD at all. These guys did a great job, and they were just doing there job, and someone from the public who they protect has the nerve to put such back handed and negative comments in a public forum.

He probably took the test but was turned down and didn't get hired!

Its always a good feeling to be in the right place at the right time and have your training kick into gear. Congratulations to the members of WPFD for doing the job in protceting the lives and citizens of White Plains.
