NYS DMV Approves Online Defensive Driving

I got this in an email from one of my co-workers today. Now the NYS DMV will accept online defensive driving courses. Completing the course will entitle you to a 10% insurance reduction, and up to 4 points off your license for 3 years. It costs just under $50 to register.

THats convenient... My department requires up to date defensive driving certs to be qualified to drive apparatus. Any other departments require this?

I tried to get a class through AAA / FASNY, but we couldn't get the interest to get enough people to take the class.

Convenient to take it online - but expensive, about twice the cost for the group rate from AAA.
