Rumor: Mount Vernon Hospital May Close

I just don't understand how much needed hospitals keep closing in Westchester. The health care system in NY/US and NY's hospital laws suck. Hospitals are viewed as a business nowadays, not as a NECCESARY part of the community.

And I don't know if Empress-Mount Vernon Ambulance 1 (the ONLY ALS ambulance dedicated to the city) works in the same way as it did when I worked there, but the reason we could handle the call volume was because of a quick turnaround at MV ER. If ambulances have to go to Sound Shore, that will result in higher turnaround times and an increase in demand for EMS.

MOUNT VERNON - Mayor Clinton Young today joined Mount Vernon hospital workers and patients calling for answers to rumors that the hospital will close.

I have not heard anything about this and NYS DOCS runs a secure unit there. I will look into this and if I hear anything I'll post it.
