4 police officers shot in Lakewood NJ overnight

LAKEWOOD — Gunfire erupted as a police tactical squad executed a no-knock search warrant at 1154 Mackenzie Court early this morning, leaving four officers and a suspect shot.

One Lakewood police officer who was shot in the face and another who was shot in the foot were taken to a hospital, Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Deputy Chief Michael Mohel said. Two others sustained minor injuries when they were struck in their bulletproof vests. They were treated and released, Mohel said.

Just because bail is set, doesn't mean he's gonna make it.

Wow, WTF? What a skell! Way too reminicent (sp?) of the Jercey City shooting just a few months ago. What the hell goes through these a-holes minds?

EMSer, great point! This douschebag tries to MURDER Police Officers and there is bail set? As JBE stated, im sure he wont raise the $2mil, but its just the point.

May these brave men have a speedy recovery.

Bail, no matter the amount, should not be an option for this piece of garbage.

I highly doubt this guy will be able to raise 2 million dollars for bail most judges would remand someone like him

Remember bail is not punitive. t is there to ensure the defendant shows up in court. There are several issues a judge must consider when setting bail. First is the crimes for which the defendant is on trial. According to the article he was only charged with illegal handgun possession and stolen goods trafficking/possession. I'm pretty sure these offense require bail. When determining how high to set bail factors like threats to public safety and flight risk are considered. The perp took a few rounds in this didn't he? He's not going anywhere any time soon and will soon enough begin the punishment phase of what will hopefully be the rest of his natural life.
