130 Liberty Finally Gone from Ground Zero

3 posts in this topic

It's gone. Really, it's gone.

It has taken six years of halting construction work, culminating nine-and-a-half years after the events of 9/11, but 130 Liberty Street, the former Deutsche Bank Building, has finally been dismantled to street level.

It's about time that thing came down. It was an eye sore and a deathtrap for way to long. If the contractors had got that thing done in a timely fashion two firemen would still be alive.

I'm glad that this nightmare of a building has finally been removed. Sadly it's way too late for the Brothers who were killed while fighting a fire inside of it. Bloomberg, Scopetta and company should have done time for negligence. Instead, they destroyed the careers of a Captain and a couple of Chief Officers who had nothing to do with it. Never Forget Firefighters Joseph Graffagnino, 33, of Brooklyn, and Robert Beddia, 53 of Statan Island, both assigned to of 5 Truck / 24 Engine who made the supreme sacrifice inside this building...
