Dramatic Video: Car Fleeing PD Crashes Into Transit Bus

Last week, a vehicle fleeing Austin, TX Police Officers after being seen in a drug transaction crashed into a Capitol Metro (our version of Bee-Line) bus. Footage was captured from the front of the bus as well as the inside by the dual dashcam. The driver-suspect of the car was killed, the bus driver was seriously injured, and a few passengers recieved minor injuries.

Man killed in crash with Capital Metro bus identified

A man killed in a crash with a Capital Metro bus Friday has been identified as 43-year-old Paul Thomas Ray.

Ray was killed after police say a vehicle he was in crashed into a Capital Metro bus in the 8800 block of Georgian Drive in North Austin. About a dozen people on the bus were hospitalized, officials said.

You have to give the bus driver credit, she kept her cool, kept the bus straight, did not swerve or over correct and seemed to maintain control avoiding what could have been a significantly more serious incident.

Too bad the human body doesn't have bumpers like that. Of course so far as I know, no requirement for seat-belts on most municipal buses?

Unrestrained passengers with high speed collision = ouch!!

family will sue pd for giving chase and maybe for the bus driver for not trying to avoid his car.
