its funny how american drug money buys american guns for the cartel which they use to get more drugs which they sell for more money to buy more guns. Obviously something must be done, the question is what can we actually do to keep someone elses house in order? We cant invade, and we cant legalize drugs so what can we do, its either prop up a failing government or ignore the problem, neither solution seems that effective if you ask me. What I find interesting is that other than the obvious tragedy of mexican officers being caught in the cross-fire, most of those killed are not what we would consider "innocent" or one of the "good guys".

The whole situation is a tragedy and a mess. God bless the 4 Officer who were killed. RIP.

It is important however to remember that among all the bad in Mexico, there are good people that are just surrounded by evil, thus giving them a bad image. Hopefully, something changes and the bloodshed slows down.

It's the old wild west along the border. Here in San Diego County, interdiction efforts are such that the smugglers, both human and drugs, have taken to trying to enter our country via the Pacific Ocean. A couple of people were caught using submersible sleds last month as they came up on the beach. Gang members come up from Tijuana and kidnap business owners who live here in the States and ask ridiculous ransoms, thinking because they own a business they must be millionaires...late last year a 14 year old was arrested for being a cartel hit man down there...like I said it's like Tombstone or Dodge City in the old west...

On Feb 15th two ICE agents where attcked. One was killed, they were assigned to the ICE Attaché office in Mexico City, they were shot in the line of duty while driving between Mexico City and Monterrey by unknown assailants.

U.S. law enforcement agencies are working closely with Mexican authorities who are investigating the shooting to ensure the perpetrators of this unconscionable crime are captured as quickly as possible.

A phoney militery check point was set up and they were ambushed. This happend about 100 miles from Mexcio City, SO basiclly this was an assanation.

Funny how this never made the papers really. But Lindsey Lohan sniffs some coke and robs a necklace, and its posted all over the front page across the country, very sad state what is news in this country.

First, judges and police in Mexico are targeted for assassination if they make any attempt to do their jobs. That's not caught in a cross-fire, it's assassination plain and simple.

Second, dozens of civilians with no ties to the cartels are being killed in this ongoing rampage; their only crime is living in this areas.

The police and government officials are being targeted for assassination yes you are correct, only because they are in the cross-fire in this gang war. And its a shame too that people are trying to make mexico safe again and yet are caught in a gang war fueled by america's failed war on drugs.

According to the NYTimes, over 30,000 of those killed in Mexico due to the drug wars over the past 4 years have had ties to illicit activity. Obviously civilians have been caught in the cross-fire and the situation is obviously getting worse. However, I would venture to guess and rely on the information from other sources that the vast majority of the murders have not involved truly "innocent" civilians. However all reports on numbers and who was killed and what their true ties were are all anecdotal since no real numbers, figures or information exists regarding this topic.
