Has an one heard about what is going one with that new firehouse in yonkers

Rumor has it that they are still looking at putting a new firehouse up at the Ridge Hill Development (opposite the Stew Leonards, Home Depot & Costco) once and if that development ever gets under way. They are also looking at the area of Tuckahoe Road near the Mark Buick car dealership as an alternative site. They may also commission a new fire company (ies) in the process of the completion of a firehouse, which may house a moved engine from the Station 10 on Tuckahoe Road in addition to the new company if it is a ladder. It could very well be just an engine and do not know if it would be a re-located Engine 310 or a new engine company. From the looks of the size of the proposed Ridge Hill development, it would almost be a city to within itself and need a ladder and engine company to serve it, since it is not readily accessible without coming from off the Thruway.

They are still awaiting if the baseball stadium is going to be built in Getty Square. If it is, their HQ is on the drawing board to be demolished to make way for the stadium. Last I heard they were looking at trying to get a new HQ built down near the waterfront development currently on going. Do not know if their apparatus from HQ would be making the move to a new HQ or re-located to current fire stations.

I know they are trying to get a new ladder company commissioned since last year and are trying again this year. If it is, it has been rumored to be going to either Station 3 or Station 8; because of the waterfront development.

If they are going to build new firehouses, they may not be looking at their completion until several years down the road at least.

With Ridge Hill they are looking at putting an engine & ladder co up there with a probability of the cos being E315 & L77.

As to the Baseball stadium, they will be annoucing a developer in the next 2-3 weeks in which a time table for construction also annouced. Yes YFD station 1 will be destroyed in the process, as of now they tentatively have an agreement w the state to take over the Nat Guard property on N Bway @ Quincy Place. All Cos would be moving there and possiblity of E301 being relocated to that Station. At this time there are no plans for another ladder co on the west side of the city.
