What a terrible event. Especially to be suffered by the family of someone who apparently served in WWII. What a very tough job for the Elmsford VFD too.

I've worked in Elmsford for about twenty years. Though I don't live there I shop in some of the local stores and really have gotten a feeling for the place, great little village.

In another way, this story takes me back to the way central Westchester was when my family first moved to White Plains (from Manhattan) in 1955. There are no private homes left on that stretch of West Main Street (Rt. 119). Gone without a trace.

And the father was a route deliveryman for Duvernoy Bakeries. Haven't heard that name in years.

Had no idea that such a tragedy took place in Elmsford. Horrific.
