Am spending some time working in the old Glenville Fire District in Greenburgh.

I believe it is (was) on the North side of Spring Street off of Benedict Avenue, Tarrytown.

The Glenville Fire District lies between Tarrytown and Elmsford. To the south would be the Thruway & East Irvington districts. Glenville did have active vols until WWII. After that, it gradually declined. There is still a Sanford Cub (1932?) that they used that was at the old firehouse. There was a very active social membership in the 1060's to about 1980's. As typical, with no younger members, membership declined. There was also the cloud of misuse of funds that disappeared. The district includes the Marriott Courtyard, Springhill Suites and the Sheraton hotels. Also the Bayer Property9Former Technicon), and all of the office buildings up to but not including the original Marriott. Dunnings Drive would be the eastern end of the district. There was talk of trying to reorganize a group of volunteers in the 1980's, but the Town of Greenburgh killed the idea.
