Ossining Fire Dept. Training Photos/Video/Story

2 posts in this topic

The Ossining Fire Department conducted training exercises Saturday, April 28 in the old Elks Lodge at 80 Main St. Fire Chief Thomas Reddy used a Thermal Imaging Camera to observe members of the department during training. The vacant building was scheduled for demolition so the department obtained permission to utilize it for training purposes. The building was not on fire but the department used fog machines and wax paper to simulate smoke during the exercise.

Saturday’s training exercise included the use of the thermal imaging cameras, chainsaws to cut through roofs and the proper procedure for using breathing tanks. Most of the tools the department used were modern technologies and Reddy was quick to comment that none were available when the department first started 200 years ago.
