Schenectady (Schenectady) - All Hands Structure Fire - 5/13/12

Units Operating: E1, E2, E3, E11, T1, T2, C19, C20, C22, HAZMAT 1, HAZMAT 2, R1, Scotia E201, Niskayuna FD1, Carmen R134, Mohawk Ambulance Service, Schenectady PD

Weather Conditions: Partly Cloudy, Moderate Temperatures, no wind.

Description Of Incident: Two story stone facade building in the shape of a Tee. Fire originated towards the center of the house and quickly spread to either end. All residence were reported out and safe. Crews intially made an interior attack but quickly withdrew and put on the defensive. Two ladder pipes were employed and was able to knock down the bulk of the fire through the partially collapsed roof. Smoke was heavy at first moving swiftly through the neighborhood but quickly supsided when the bulk of the fire was extinguished. One firefighter was treated by Ambulance service and transported to the local hospital for treatment. Carmen Fire Department was dispatched to the scene to establish a Rehab station for the working firefighters. Units still on scene and cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.
