New Rochelle - Fully Engulfed Boat Fire - 5/17/12

Frequency: 46. 26, Yonkers & Southern Westchester, 460. 4625 (New Rochelle Fire)

Pelham/Pelham Manor FD: [Engine 1, Engine 3, Ladder 2]

New Rochelle: [2 Harbor Marine Units]

New Rochelle EMS [30 A1, 30 A2, 30 A3]

Yonkers FD: [Engine 312, Engine 309, Engine 306, Ladder 72, Rescue)

Con Ed Gas & Electric

Battalion 18

Units on Standby: Yonkers FD [ Squad 11, Ladder 73 and Battalion 1]

Weather Conditions: Sunny, Warm

Description Of Incident: A 60' vessel is fully engulfed with exposure problems as it is in dry dock and not in the water, multiple hand lines in operation. This is the 2nd boat fire this week in New Rochelle. A 32 ft fishing vessel was gutted on Monday.

1217 hrs: NRFD dispatched for a working boat fire

1225 hrs: NRFD o/s

1309 hrs: Fire not under control at this time. 4 lines extended and are unable to gain entry to the boat.

1313 hrs: 30 A3 requested to 1 Traver's island to transport. Command: it's going to be a prolonged operation and is requesting 1 and 1 mutual aid.

1320 hrs: 30 A3 transporting 1 to Sound Shore Medical Center

1325 hrs: 30 A3 out at Sound Shore

1328 hrs: Squad 11, ladder 73 and battalion 1 to standby at New Rochelle Station 1 on Harrison Street

1335 hrs: EVAC mutual aid to New Rochelle for a female with chest pains at 44 Trino Street

1338 hrs: 57 Medic 1 to assist in the Trino Street mutual aid

1341 hrs: Yonkers Squad 11 has been cancelled and is 10-8

1358 hrs: Situation is under control at this time

1402 hrs: Battalion 2 wants Yonkers units to respond back to 580 Saw Mill River Road. Engine 312, 309, 306, Rescue, Ladder 72 toned out.

1416 hrs: Battalion 1 is 10-8 from New Rochelle and heading back to city limits. Ladder 73 is remaining.

1504 hrs: Now a foam operation, they are using AFFF. All hands are still working.

1614 hrs: All companies are going to be 10-8 with the exception of Battalion 2 and a ladder (couldn't hear which one)

1620 hrs: Battalion 2 is 10-8, 312 is remaining.
