Pelham, NY - Working Fire -- 7/11/12 (Note: late IA post)

Time: appx. 01:10 hrs

Location: 235 Corona Ave x The Boulevard (near the New Rochelle line), Pelham, NY

Frequency:

Units Operating: 20-25 firefighters from Pelham Fire Department; Pelham Manor Fire Department; New Rochelle Fire Department; Mount Vernon Fire Department; Greenville Fire Department (re-locate, Ladder 4); Eastchester Fire Department (re-locate, Engine); Westchester County Cause and Origin team; ConEdison.

Weather Conditions:

Description of Incident: Working fire on the first floor of a 2.5 story home. Family of three was awakened by fire alarm, exited the house, and called 911. Upon arrival, fire was showing out of the 1st floor windows. Made quick entry and knocked down fire. Extensive damage to the front den and minimal smoke damage to the 2nd floor and water damage to other areas. Cause was determined to be spontaneous combustion of work materials used to stain and varnish wood located in the den. No injuries reported. Family is staying with neighbor until they are able to return home.

01:13 hrs: M/A New Rochelle E-23/L-13, Mount Vernon E-5/L-3 to the scene.

01:15 hrs: M/A Eastchester Engine and Greenville L-4 to cover Pelham.

01:19 hrs: Car 2361 requests re-tone for additional manpower.

01:22 hrs: Car 2361 reports fire appears to be K/D.

01:28 hrs: Car 2361 reports fire is K/D, checking for extension. Holding New Rochelle's M/A.
