"Smart Meters" are they a hazard?

A few years ago a family friend had a fire and the cause was the smart meter, after the fire I googled smart meters and could not believe how many fires have been caused by the meters. A major news station even did a story about a $600,000 house in mid westchester burning down just hours after the meter was installed. Have you had any experiences with the meter? Interesting reading about health hazards as well as fires!

A smart meter is a meter that sends real time information about individual and community wide power usage back to the power company so that the power company can increase or decrease supply based on demand and adjust prices accordingly.
